Today was so painful

Tryingtomoveforward profile image

Today was hard. I was playing with my nephew and it really hit me that all the things my cousin and I thought we would do together won’t be happening eg She won’t be throwing me a baby shower, our kids won’t know each other, we won’t have family pictures with all our kids. It hurt so much I felt like I was drowning it. I started to cry while giving him his bottle. How do you handle spending time with other peoples kids? I love my nephew and don’t want our times together to be this way.

Hello lovely, I am saddened to read that you have having a hard time in 'trying to move forward'. How are you today?

Have you thought about, or had any professional therapy around how you feel? It might be that in talking all your feelings through with a therapist, you can start to find ways to accept and to be present with what is.

Several of the MTL volunteers, including myself, have written personal accounts of our experiences with infertility. Have you had a read of them? There might be some comfort to be found in them, or just something that resonates.

I do hope things shift for you soon, so you can be in a place that is less painful and raw.

Be kind to yourself.

Warm wishes, K

Thank you K, my partner and I will hopefully start working with a therapist soon. X

I'm so sorry to hear that, it is difficult spending time with other's children, you were brave to do it. I think looking after yourself is important and perhaps spending time with them when you feel you can do it, and limiting it to short moments on your terms if possible, and having a ready made excuse to leave if you feel it's too much could be a way to handle it in the future.

thank you x

I truly hope therapy brings you both some peace, and you are given strategies to help you in times of need. You're in my thoughts. Warm regards, K
