Depersonalization/derealization

I was a very anxious and nervous person growing up. And the emotional neglect growing up didn't help. I've had chronic depersonalization since age 14 which was decades ago. Has anyone had it for a long time 24/7? Therapists don't seem to understand that it's not always from a traumatic event. That's outdated.

hey John I just want to say you are not alone. I also have this problem and I’ve always wondered why if I haven’t had any dramatic issue happen to me but one thing that helps for me is going out to nature and taking walks. Nature is beautiful

I totally recommend going for walks out in nature or even just sitting down and enjoying the breeze outside! It will definitely be good for you even if it’s just for 5 minutes or even less. A breath of fresh air is always something needed here and there:) much love man

Hello I kind of just ran into this depersonalization subject. I think I have possibly suffered this condition for decades. I find very little good Intel on this so I'm wondering about your experience and how you deal with it or dealt with it or relieve yourself of it. Any information or possible authors articles anything you might know you could lead me to would be greatly appreciated. I have never met another person who actually suffers this condition. Ever. Take care of yourself and be well

I had it for over thirty years. It was horrible. As if I wasn’t part of my surroundings. Numb to everything. Terrifying really. I was this way day and night. Nothing seemed to help. When my dad died he was a big source of neglect and emotional abuse my depersonalization disappeared. He played such a negative part in my life , sad to say. I get occasional attacks from time to time but my psychiatrist explained it is my body’s way from protecting me from things that remind me of past trauma. Hope this helps as I really do know how awful this can be and you are right if you have never been through it it is so hard to understand. I wish that you will find someone who can help work to get past this.
