They will backdate it from the date you applied. However I understand they have backlogs so it might take some time to get it. Good luck.

Getting Pip can be problematic it comes in as two different types in about three different levels, Good Luck with your claim

There are two parts:

Daily living part - if you need help with everyday tasks

Mobility part - if you need help with getting around

Both parts award either lower or an enhanced rate.

I don't know what levels you are referring too as there are only two or what is problematic?

It is based on points which the determines the rate you get.

in reply tocowen2019

Yes cowen

Two different benifits, Mobility and Disability Living allowances

Both these are split up into three levels.

The actual points system are awarded for each problem, the level based on a number of points. It is the assessment that proves to be that problem and how the points are awarded to the problems you have. This can seem to be massaged on assessment.

I gather you are not on this benefit at this time ??

If the need arises PM me or anyone you feel confident with

You said it is problematic, it is simple enough to understand.

Yes, there are two parts to it but most people apply for both or think of it as one.

*You stated there are three different levels not me when there are only two lower and enhanced.

What did you mean by the three levels?

I am on this benefit and had a long fight before they realised how they messed up as I applied to a tribunal sent in 98 pages and they change their mind.

Why, have you said you gather i am not on the benefit at that time when i explained it above?

Also, disability living allowance is not part of PIP but a completely different benefit no longer going and only serving those who are waiting to be transferred onto PIP. DLA was three levels which has now been replaced with two lower or enhanced with PIP.

Angel533 in reply to

thankyou Bob, i know i should get it as long as they don't tell lies like they're known to😊

They may need to send someone out to assess you for PIP. so it is hard to know what to advise Is it for Mental Health, Pysical Health. What type or level etc are you wanting ?

ive had a phone call assessment and should get both daily living and mobility but i have to wait 8 weeks so was asking if they back date it and when from as i don't know much about it

cowen2019 profile image

They will back date it to the day you applied over the phone for the forms I think if not the day you submit the forms. It is then paid every four weeks. When I applied I think you could choose bi or weekly also. They will back date it and pay you the back dated amount mine was a pretty nice amount and owing to huge back loads so should yours if you get it, fingers crossed. I received the back dated amount before I even go the response letter stating I would get, but I did have to put in an MR as they messed up and failed to consider loads as the assessor was bad. I sent in 98 pages of evidence and explanation and got enhanced for both for 5 years.

If they decline you which they usually do send in an MR in detail regarding what the assessor should have recorded, anything mussed out and any contradictions in the report such as with me they said i could walk and move my upper half fine yet i was a couple of months out of hospital from a coma. This site benefits and work is brilliant for helping and i paid the subscription costs for each help and the £15 was way worth it.

Hope this helps and good luck.

i recorded it all since i found out dwp have changed the rules and you can record now with or without them knowing but the rules are that you can't alter or use for malicious reasons, she said she was recording and i told her i was toi incase i need it for court so hopefully they won't fob me off 😊

cowen2019 profile image
cowen2019 in reply toAngel533

Wish I had recorded it. I would have if I knew the fight I would have but after being in a coma and the reasons why I was claiming was so obvious I just thought I would fly through. I didn't even get an apology. Another issue is the assessor was a physio and had nothing to do with mental health and she wasn't any good at the physio part pf it let alone anything else. Good Luck.

its awful that they put you through all that but im glad you got it in the end and in the future you know you can record it so you can never be put through that again

cowen2019 profile image
cowen2019 in reply toAngel533

So do you need to ask them permission to record it as I have read somewhere you can record things without asking so long as you don't publish it without permission? If you don't ask to record it though can you use it against them?

Angel533 profile image
Angel533 in reply tocowen2019

it said the new rules are if you're recording and they realise you are they then have to explain the recording rules to you

Hi,they back date payments to when you first informed them so in my case I started with a phone call and they took some details before posting me a questionnaire. I was paid from the date I Telephoned and gave my information.(in my case I had no money and was deep in dangerous debt,They took months then refused me pip. However I fought back a few times, they investigated and 1 year later inwas awarded full PIP and back paid £8000 to my bank account.)

im glad you got it in the end😊

Hi , they pay Pip if your awarded it from the day you called them to make a claim.

Good luck dealing with dwp they are "______".

Angel533 in reply to

my partner has just spoke to them and they're giving me standard for daily living even though i should of got the high amount and nothing for mobility even though ive not left the house for years, im disgusted

in reply toAngel533

Sorry that's not what your expecting and that you have to deal with DWP, I got no award first time and didnt ask for MR. the next time i got 0 points at first then after M.R. i got Enhanced Daily living but nothing for Mobility.

You need to ring and get a copy of the assessment report and look at your award letter.

You can then see where you have or have not scored points and focus on challenging why you should of scored points. Maybe 30 days for a MR but i dont know for sure.

Try Yourable or Benefits and Work forums both have good advice on Pip.

Try and stay posative.
