Fear of vomiting

This is a real fear for me because when I have severe vomiting I really feel like I want to die. This must be from when I was a child and on a horrendous boat journey when a trip should have been 4 hrs and ended up 8 hours. The cargo shifted so the boat was on a list, plates, crockery etc thrown around the decks, ambulance waiting at the dock because people had been injured. I have been on boat journeys where the sea sickness has been so bad that I have been unable to get up off the floor and if they said the boat was going down I would have said Good! I obviously avoid boats as much as possible but unfortunately have developed vertigo and the effect is exactly the same. Although I am on tablets to stop the sickness I still get the fear that its going to happen. Am I unusual feeling this way. My adult children don't feel like I do, does anyone else? What help is there for something like this?

Emetephobia. (Unreasonsble fear of vomiting)I had this but now am cured.it is a truly truly horrible condition.

I have given therapy to emetophobics and new one patient who removed this fear in one 30 minute session(not with me,but with an E.F.T.therapist).

Having said this I find this phobia is incredibly difficult to cure. Much more common than you think.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know it was quite so common. Hopefully if I can get this inner ear problem sorted then it will obviously remove the worry of being sick. It's not something I normally worry about unless I am having to go on a boat but thankfully there's been no need for that since leaving the island I used to live on.

I think it is in the top 10 phobias so very common.good luck with the ear, that should help hugely.
