Hello it can be hard to be on our own, everyone needs some form of contact with those around them. The problem you have, needs to be addressed and acted upon in a positive way. Do you have any hobbies or Diversions. I use You Tube because it has many interests you can follow and expand on. Hobbies we are very lucky we have a parcel of land and we both love gardening. We are on our own property so we do gardening. At this time of year we feed the birds and that can also address any lonely feelings we may have, we also have a dog called Pax who keeps us busy.

When we go shopping in town we go and walk on the beach as we are out buying food and use that time for many other things to do.

This Covid and Political demands on us needs to be addressed or we will become far to insular and that will not help our Mental Health. If you have books try and read them or if that is not the case my wife uses the internet and there are umpteen sites that have jig-saws she does.

You can always come here and talk out your problems.

Are you able to contact your Doctor on the web, try Zoom ? and you can see each other and talk in the evening, I know it is a poor alternative, although it is something you can try and get some positive relief

Thank you Bob your message has some good ideas which I will try at some point .I have dogs that like a walk but at present they only get into large back garden till my daughter comes home ,going out at present is a major part of my anxiety .I had a heart attack last Christmas and had to have a stent in place I was doing great .since the blooming anxiety crept in and I am now scared to go out on my own incase I take a heart attack ,I know it’s silly but to me at present it’s true so I am working through to stop my negative thoughts and hopefully get back to the woman I was not this pathetic person x

Have you talked to your Doctor, regards your Agoraphobia ??Are you able to walk about the garden or just potter around ?

I am very insular, made worse because of Covid and getting outside for some fresh air may be a help to you in the security of your own garden. I need to get on with my orchard and it has been to windy for me so I cannot get on with the work as the trees are nearly twenty feet tall and I am in pain.

Are you able to go to the shops etc ??

I don’t have agoraphobia sorry if I haven’t explained properly.my anxiety in regard to me having a heart attack when I am out makes me scared it’s unfounded I have just latched onto that in my anxious state no rhyme or reason .I have spoken to my GP she arranged blood test heart is fine blood pressure is up but that goes hand in hand with anxiety,my thyroid is under active .she GP has prescribed an increase in both of theses medications and my antidepressants so hopefully once the kick in I will feel better and if I can source CBT on NHS I am hopeful I will be back to normal xxx

Hello 4020

CBT will help you move on with your condition and hopefully medications will help you defeat your condition. Your Doctor will be able to arrange CBT course for you although sometimes a patient can bypass the Doctor and either attend the therapy by phoning the operator, generally this may be the same place the doctor will send you to. I had several courses like that and I was told to phone their office if I needed help again.

We are always here to help if you need to let rip. lol

Not holding out much hope of help from my GP I have mentioned I was interested in CBT but she never went any further ,maybe I need to assert myself more x

Sometimes they will try and get you through your problems in a self holistic way. The problem with CBT is a lack of appointments caused by Covid, Consider Mindfulness Relaxation Technique you can get a book on the subject on Amazon, for about £7;00 in the UK. The National Trust shops on the web had a copy for sale at around the same price.Controlled slow deep breathing can also help some people.

Have you anyone who you can talk to, sometimes if the person is sympathetic and understand and listens that can also work.

Diversions of Hobbies can distract negative thoughts and can also help you divert any negative thoughts you may have.

I use Relaxation Techniques, I mix and match. They do work. called Maxwell and Alexander Techniques, Mindfulness is the most recent and seems to help in reaching a more positive mood

Hi thank you for the support and advice I am doing relaxation Hypnosis and trying to do my mindfulness .I am getting there but in reality I don’t think it will pass any time soon .Once Covid restrictions are eased and we can start to be socially interactive,I think I will heal faster being able to meet people x

Level 2 or 3 starts tomorrow, we will take the dog to the beach today and in some ways restrict ourselves to additional shopping. Are you getting your food delivered by a Supermarket or similar ??

It is all down to you gaining confidence, in small steps, if you can try and arrange visiting the food shops on occasions that may help you.

We get our basic shop delivered once a week and if we need anything else generally we go out early in the morning shopping and taking the dog out, we are back by tea break. we then if I am ok work in the garden or just relax. I do not like crowds so we adjust our life accordingly
