Hello every one been a struggle to admit this is getting to me the amount of posts on medications .
Questions and queries on the side effects, the problems the difficulties with medication.
I am sorry to hear what you all going through but you must realise the onus is on you to find out why and how to deal with the medications you have.
Sorry if I am harsh but have been on long term medications most of my life feel am a sensible intelligent gent, use common sense.
First be looking at all leaflets packages information.
Second be looking on line if symptoms persist research do some time on line.
If I cut my self do I let myself need to bleed ask on line cut my self.
Obviously extreme case but in my opinion and judgement trying so hard to help those come on here with issues.
Lately either private message my time my beneficial expertise and long term knowledge.
Not at all appreciated at all by some some have thank you.
Third make some notes do some thinking the Doctors given these meds they are only part of the solution.
I have to share some of the members are coming on with same questions and queries but also one important fact.
Is any of you joined enrolled mental health charities ones I have listed suggested then not listening or be aware or even responsive.
The support team have a meeting send you a report and dismiss you as part of the whole recovery is a partnership.
You and your support worker fail disagree or even argue use insinuations not helping your self then out your gone.
I know this because I was one in my twenties been arrogant know it all alcohol toxins my excuses.
Was not responsible enough, got the letter cancelling contract.
I also like to point out yes it an agreement between you and your Doctor the medication you are taking.
Questions and reviews are part of the mental health recovery. Diet, nutrition and certain aspects of lifestyle choices .
I would stress it is very hard for me to supply relevant information to offer a helping hand.
Informing those what to do never easy to do, hate telling discussing the next steps then get ignored blanked not listening or no replies.
If you want help then please by all means ask me or others but please do not continue to post same questions.
Why part of the whole mental health is focusing on you being independent learning coping . Being educational find courses, wellbeing learn how to cope.
I had crying time but had to learn had to deal with pressures of how to menial tasks and roles in the home.
Never asked any one just learnt to do this when ill.
Once you applied any of you any mental health charity life changes things happen.
You can survive I am proof of that, so please just think do I need to post a question on meds or side effects when already know the answers.
By spending time on line researching making notes or asking my GP.
Or looking at the information in the pack.
Thank you all .

Patients and GPs are both in partnership with each other when it comes down to treatment Pathways. Also understanding there mental health conditions
Contributors here generally need differing support levels especially if they cannot see a GP or Nurse, so they come here for support especially over the last five month period of virus disruption. On many occasions they come on site for some support and understanding especially if they are having problems associated with this Mental Health Disabilities
Personally I feel people are best coming on this site for encouragement and understanding when unable to be seen. by their GP . Here they get help and support. That is why the site exists.
However if you feel in any way uncomfortable you can avoid asking or dealing with a question. You must be comfortable in your own skin, That always is laid out and is your own decision We all need to feel relaxed and understand our own needs and expectations.
We need to take into context how the the situation is presented on this site. Sometimes the main reason the person enters this sit is for comfort and understanding from their fears and illness. I have been involved in Community Work and Mental Health for many years and I can put up my hand and understand where and how mental health can present itself. It may seem to many the attitude of patient and their contributions may repeat themselves. I know in my past I was very much the same as I was fighting Chronic disabilities. It is quite rare these days in the UK were people are allowed time to come to terms with their medications and treatment pathways. They need a helping understanding had to give support.
These sites are wonderful places where people with health concerns can be given support and a written friendship that they can lack in what you may call real life. I personally remember when I was a volunteer/Patient in a Mental Health Day centre the difference those four walls affected treatment over the long term, the same here where some my get a certain amount of friendship and other peoples problems to relate too problem are laid bare and ideas and suggestions are taken up to help with treatment plans.
The fact that people do repeat in my eyes is not a real problem. The situation of not being alone can be a real healing situation for some. Gaining confidence in Life with various coping skills is the best way forward where people make friendships in various ways
The health service at this time is a very poor resource over a longer period. That is the main reason I am around here, and I also enjoy any interaction I pick up along the way
Mr Rigatoni, I think you have misunderstood what BOB is saying.
Needing to ask questions in their own way can be part of the support that people need. It can also be very difficult to find out what replies to a question about meds have been given in the past - and even then that is an answer that was given in the past - people may need and want to connect with people who are going through what they are experiencing now which means that an answer for a year ago - or even from 2 weeks ago may not be what they want. Posters active on the forum historically may no longer be present and active on the forum meaning that responding to seek support on an old post may not result in a response.
There are things about the HU model that are far from ideal and I am sorry if you find the same question coming up again and again irritating but please bear in mind that that is your irritation.
Hopefully you don’t mean you are leaving the site because your post is misunderstood. Please stay. There may be other ways you can be helpful, or receive help, here.
I do find it very difficult to follow what you are saying. There seem to be a lot of points but they don't seem to flow from each other.
The message that does seem to come across is that you don't think people should post if something has been asked before but should check out prior posts.
The model for HU is about providing an area for patients with the same conditions to be able to support each other and share experiences where they are now and share tips on what has and hasn't worked for them.
Some people's experience of mental health issues, and even some physical conditions often means they do go round in circles and need re-ask the same question many times, this doesn't mean that they don't learn from each iteration mental health issues are often accompanied by poor memory - as are many other conditions.
I cannot comment on use of PM - it is an area that I actually feel uncomfortable with and would rather deal with issues on forum and for that anonymity is important, particularly as feed from HU appears on a number of public sites including NHS sites in the UK
If you feel posts on site are going a round and round try and move on from contribution, some times you can answer the contribution parts that you feel comfortable with and if you find going around in circles is irritating you do not consider replying that part of the contribution. You could even leave that posting alone and move onto the next blog. No problem.
Everyone on this site approaches their disability in a different way and if a new contributor asks the same question that was asked the day before so what, it is all down to the person trusting and gaining confidence to discuss their health concerns.
My Mental Health Concern, if part of a Short Term Memory Disorder, linked to a Reactive Depression, sorry I have repeated myself, however in my case at home it drives my Wife mad because of repeating myself and forgetting what I have said and forgetting how I wish to reply. So in many ways I can understand how people around me get really upset with me when they do not know me and my Conditions.
I am here to help others and assisting those people to move on. Sometimes more and more am just as bad.
I hope you stay, however we all make our own decisions
Hello sorry not replied just needed some thinking time sometimes we need space.
I wanted to add this is hard for me every day is constant reminders of mental health.
I need to explain every time see some one not listening or not being responsive not only brings back memories of friends.
Who because not listened not interested ended up killing themselves.
Because wrapped in the cycle of addiction and not known or aware of this at the time, I do have the same back ground as them.
Alcoholism then the Eighties the Nineties many men never listened seriously ill with mental heath illness and conditions all related.
I survived they did not so when I see members come on here deny them selves the opportunity of not listening not need to be responsive think of my friends.
I had to endure ten years ago APR programmes these are after care programmes of alcoholics.
See some one walk in to your life we all become friends dying yellow skin dead in a few days or weeks or months then you begin to understand me better.
I am aware of constantly of the life and death struggle of mental health the families the loved ones partners and children.
Am strong have courage has recently been involved intermediary support for all addiction mainly on line community websites as well mental health.
I just wanted to add every time see some one ignore my valuable advice, expertise and see them possibly coming back repeating the same questions I feel need to be thinking of those who did not get the help too late.
One other factor I apologise sometimes if my words get muddled as they do am afraid side effect of long term addiction mental health.
Some one posted another member critical comments been on Thiamine .
Add this is a Dementia drug unfortunately not working so my memory paths of thought emotions and way say things confusion a lot.
Due to resistance of drugs.
On long term meds for mental health.
Will in my own mind survive this another fear of all alcoholics that when clean free still remains health issues.
Must say eye sight myopia become worse have computer can enlarge text .
Hearing loss worse .
Memory issues constant pain every day addicted to pain relief had to come off .
Joint hands feet legs struggle to walk.
I have memory losses a lot get triggers constantly reminders may be same as you in some respects.
What annoys me is then the frustrations of seeing others go down the same path as it can do as very much those following be supportive.
I discussed this with my floating support long time ago because left several forums fears of members suicide risks and no safety guard as a lot of the time me spending.
Concerned a lot about situation so left had to same here as I do think needs to be some changes.
Early hours being with members friends struggling to cope mentally and physically.
Even now scared to find members in state of distress. Inability to cope .
One of the major issues is the whole mental health teams systems and structures in the UK going down hill and can not cope.
Some time became a volunteer in these charities we the targets of the service users as nothing ever done to help any of them . Many had grievances I tried to help.
Instead got bullied victimised hurt and had to leave.
Seeing this feel for members if they just looked at what I write or make notes apply very much get the life back on track.
Unfortunately those I met have and can not because are deceased and the families suffer still.
One important statement if I can add where are the links to mental health charities and information on medications.
So if any one comes on whether USA or UK.
Have the UK links to apply for support ones I given, also a link to medications listed the side effects and information.
I know some websites do this why not here.
Help them to help themselves. Gives them clear precise information.
I am afraid that as this is effecting my own mental health the negativity have to have some space some times to my self.
As my floating support is no longer supporting me thought could be useful helpful to me but it is not.
I just feel let down by a community websites could do more but not listening to any one.
I can not be in a situation like this and need to be knowing my time my energy is useful not so.
I have to also share mentioned this before if any members enrolled in UK mental health charities they will get all the answers, solutions, questions answered.
Do not adhere of course thinking the staff have to evaluate your care package.
No one wishes to do this but numbers extremely high and over burden underfunded under a lot of stress staff have to make decisions.
Including the time removing me even though ill not that bad in their opinion had to let me go.
Please read carefully what I suggested and please thank you for the time to read .
Now your know reasons am the person.
I am not irritation just a gentleman old school hates to see people possibly lose out on essential life changing choices and options.
Like You I have had mental health concerns now for many years, I started on medications when I was sixteen on and off until now, I am seventy in two weeks time
I started my Social Work as a volunteer at seventeen, then eventually became an Youth and Community Worker after passing my Examinations, this work was Voluntary in the early days when I eventually became a Youth Leader in my own Centre, where I would also be called in to look after the Night Classes etc.
I went on to attend a Mental Health Day Centre then became an Information Officer. Also various NHS Think Tanks, that I gave up recently and now on Surgery PPG.
Mental Health is an interest of mine being a Patient and I enjoy talking and helping those who need support and encouragement. Personally I never really consider the repetitive questions or any other negative problems may have I find everything as putting something back into a broken system. That I had to and still am passinng through even now Never had a drink problem however living on the Scottish Border I have a need for Strong beer and good Malt Whisky, however I do understand the hard pathway people need to take can be very difficult Pathway. with Drink.
Personally I hope you stay, the site will do you good as long as you allow latitude, and understanding
The onus is that person to find out about meds but leaflets tell you only what the worst outcome could be.
A doctor actually has less expertise than a pharmacist
So would you not have thought the onus being on the person is being creative and asking on here because also a leaflet doesn’t tell you your gonna feel sxxit the day after you take a new med as if your head has been spun around at 14,000 rpm in a spin drier
It also doesn’t tell you what happens if you take med A with med B with med C
So to ask on here you may find a person takes a combination of meds that some one else takes on here
In fact I’ve just answered a question to a guy who has been put on pregabalin and he wanted to know how long they take to work does it help with headaches does it make you feel relaxed
Some ppl who see perhaps a psychiatrist are scared at what meds they put them on and become more anxious in the first place
