hi

i too was on sertraline for a long time but i've just changed to venlafaxine because sertraline didn't help me anymore

today was my first day taking the new medication

and i was super nervous to take it because it's new and i have no idea what side effects i am going to get

the best thing to do is just do it

don't think about it or go into researching all the side effects

everyone's body is different and you may even get none/minimal side effects

just remember that this medication is here to help you with your anxiety

and if you notice any side effects, you can always speak to your GP and discuss alternatives

side effects are not permanent and it can be reversed, so try your best not to overthink it x

i know it's scary but you've just got to do it and hopefully it will be the medication for you😊

hope you have a good day and keep fighting!

Sometimes it can take upwards five week to get on a medication, however if you keep changing medications, you may find your body will need longer periods to get used the drugs and feel any benefit.

If your Doctor have given you a change in medications it is pointless and wasteful if you do not follow the revised script. How will you know if the drug is working when they remain in the packet. Take your medications, over at least five weeks.

Get well soon

Hello Jessica.

Yes I understand how you feel. I take my medications, I also wake up early morning the same mulling over what happened during the day.

The medications I take will be with me for the rest of my Life. I find no real problem with that, so given that you need. Sad to say you need to allow your medication to work as mentioned before. We are all different we take these medications so sometimes we need to try others that suit you personally. However you still need to follow your Doctors advice

The gp thinks I need something to help me but it stopped me sleeping 😴 and I didn’t want that if I could have slept then I would have carried on with it as it made me feel better in the long run but I was so tired I couldn’t sleep the medication wouldn’t let me shut off naturally at all I spent nights laying awake and I even had work to go to so I wasn’t able to feel tired or I couldn’t do my job well enough I feel exhausted 😩

Escitalopram is a sibling of Citalopram, it has less active component's which cause side effects and more suited to anxiety suffers. As with most of these types of tablets there are side effects, things become worse before they get better. If your struggling waiting for the tablets to work which can take 12 weeks in worst cases, then then I would recommend asking for dizapram. Dispite the stigma about dizapram it's actually less addictive than doctors say it is. Often doctor's will say take up to 3 times a day but if you can limit it to once a day when you absolutely need it, it's hard to become physically addicted to it. When take in high regular dosages it can remain in the blood for 4 days so lower dosages and less regular makes it less addictive. Using this information you can prevent addiction. I use 5mg - 7.5mg depending how about the anxiety is, I normally only need it once every other Day and often can go a week without using it at all. Often knowing you have something that works Almost instantly (20mins when dissolved under tongue) often lowers anxiety as you don't worry about having anxiety panic attacks.
