What other options there are for patients with bipolar, bpd, or aggressive behavior;else than "shutting down/mentally foging/" meds?

Side question: Can you have a good productive life (not just an okay bearable life) and live normally despite of having an antipsychotic in your blood?

I hate antipsychotics in general. Already had mdd diagnosis with the adhd and resistance to ssris(2 types) . And I'm avoiding getting tested for hypomania because I'm afraid of being forced to take it. and even without that, I've been prescribed antipsychotic before for different reasons (risperidone, olanze, Quetiapine) and i didn't like them; allergies, emotional numbness, irritability, akathisia-like symptoms, being unable to think or understand things or even talk+ an increase in suicidal ideation.

I hear lithium is far worse. So what are the options other than antipsychotics and brain dumping staff?

P.s: For me, English is a foreign language

Hi. I've been on risperidone for the past 3 years. It's a small dose at .5mg, but it helps me get to sleep at night. I take it along with my other medication, Trintellex. This combination helps me quite a bit. Without it, I don't think I would be functioning at the level I am. But even with the right combination of medication, it's not the end all be all. We all need to live mindfully and have healthy habits like consistent exercise along with incorporating coping skills and other therapeutic techniques into our lives to function at our best. I hope you find the right combination that works for you

Talk to your Doctor, to be honest, they would rather medicate in Society than take you into hospital. Let your GP explain your options

I take 1000mg Tegretol, and 600mg Quetiapine, along with 375mg Venlafaxine, 900mg Gabapentin, and 50mg Amitriptyline. The build up to the dose and side effects were shall we say 'hell', but once I was steady and everything else was sorted, I have stopped making suicide attempts, no more voices, and no more mania. It did take a good year though.

I think sometimes it's easy to stop a drug because the side effects are horrendous, but if you give them time, they do settle......I always give New meds / doses at least 3 - 6 months. And then it's a case of what's worse, brain fog or those horrendous suicidal feelings 24 / 7?
