I have suffered from depression, low self esteem, anxiety and bad sleep for 10 to 15 years. This has got so bad I am now wondering if I have dementia as I am getting very forgetful and even forgetting friend's names at times. I am being tested for this and really want to know if this is all interconnected with my mental health problems. I have tried anti-depressants, CBT ands am now getting to my wits end. If I could string 3 to 4 nights of good sleep together, that might make me feel better about myself and make me feel able to deal with life again.

Depression and low self esteem
My sister forgets things all the time and she feels a little like this. I have a great memory, so something else is wrong because I only have a little short term memory loss
I have suffered similar problems, have had insomnia from a very young age and nothing seems to help, I am now starting CBT to see if this will help, I went through a few years of my memory being the worst, forgetting birthdays, friends names and many other things to the point of being so worried it could be something more serious, however I have started a new job which is very multi-task orientated and have found that, although my sleep problems still persist, my memory is alot better and it seemed to be the case that I wasnt challenging my brain enough or stimulating it, even doing sudokus every day or brain games to help, it might be a case of needing something a bit more stimulating to keep your brain active for a longer period of time, i'm by no means suggesting a new job or anything that drastic but if you have a bit of time now and then trying to test your brain a bit, it may not make major differences straight away but hopefully it might help with your memory over time
Hi, Magpieontour.
This may work.
Get on the Web and find your nearest yoga class. Disclose your condition to the teacher on the phone. You may also get one free lesson as a starter.
It's all in the breathing.
Go well.
Yours sincerely,
R
Have they told you what is causing your problems.
I went through tests over five weeks for dementia and also various scans etc. Mine was not related to Dementia, it is all down to a Congenital Short Term Memory Disorder, and a shortage of blood supply to the brain, caused by the arteries in the neck. I would suffer dizzy spells when temperatures changed, were different caused by temperature changes. I would fall down, get dizzy etc and hurt myself. Mind I am sixty nine,
