Mirtazepine questions.

Hi guys. I have been on mirtazepine since February. I stopped it for about a week and a half and went back on it after they upped my restless leg tablet as it caused really bad restless legs. I have had lose stools since being on it, had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and all was fine. I also have had really bad back pain, mid back pain for ages and heard this can be a side effect? Anyone else had these effects? Many thanks. I’m 24 by the way.

A great deal of your concerns can maybe be put down to your anxiety and possible depression. Generally loose stools are quite normal dependent on the foods you eat. In fact the British can be more constipated than Europeans as the can be quite soft in their movements, so stop worrying. I eat a great deal of fruit and that can cause loose stools.

Back pain can be caused by posture, although you need to consider talking to your GP regarding this problem. I am a sufferer, although my problem is medical, so you need to discuss that with your GP

I have been on Mirtazapine for 19 months and have found it to be the one AD that I have had few side effects from ( weight gain was the only side effect I could attribute to Mirtazapine). I get restless leg syndrome but that is a side effect of Quetiapine I take. Suddenly stopping and then restarting any medication is not a good idea as the body can react in a way that it hasn't before.
