Mirtazapine!

Just a quick one here. Only recently discovered this site and am at this point in my life where I need to take back some control. Not quite ready to go into full details as to my life yet but I’m hoping in time I can let it all out. My only thing is this pill I’ve been prescribed. Never taken anything before and a little concerned as to what expect. I know there’s a chance of a down before the up. Not interested in the view of the down that stays down to be honest because if it happens it happens and I guess I’ll have to try something else. Just like to her some upbeat stories please.

Well, you may get very tired at the start. Mirtazapine can knock you out a bit until you build up a tolerance to that side of it.

I have seen it said that if you push the dose up it may be more activating.

Hi, I have been on Mirtazapine for 18 months now and have found it ok. As already stated the lower the dose the more of a sedative effect it has (I take 2 X 15mg instead of 1 X 30mg for this very reason). I also found with this AD I didn't get the low before I started feeling better with this AD either.

I have been quite stable on Mirtazapine and have even started looking to return to work (2 years since I was last in work) so it has to be doing something right 😀

Wishing you all the best as you start taking the drug and if you need support post on here and you will receive some amazing support x

Been on mirt for nearly 2 years started on 15 up to 30 now starting a slow taper off watch the appetite you do put on weight with this drug.i take for anxiety has been good to stabilise my mood also.good luck for the future

Allow upwards five weeks to take a somewhat positive affect. Be patient we all see the night before the day that is how life is

You will eventually feel better and hopefully move on

What are your concerns

My best advice is take with a pint of water as I woke feeling "zombied" and felt less productive at first 💚

3 months in and upped from 30 to 45 and in truth not a lot seems different. Only positive is I don’t feel so suicidal but still comes at least once a week. Going to talk to gp tomorrow and see what else I can do. Forget to mention lost my partner to cancer last year. Diagnosis to death in 19 days. Nothing can prepare you for that! I understand I’m still grieving as it’s only 18 since I lost her but sometime life is just too much
