Depression & full time work

Hey everyone,

I have just started full time work after studying for 4 years and I am really struggling to adjust to the new lifestyle. I constantly feel overwhelmed and out of place. It feels like there is no time for anything other than work but at the same time i remember being bored when at uni with all the spare time I had. I was looking forward to having a routine.

However now I have actually got into work, I cannot help but feel depressed about how horrible and repetitive this lifestyle feels. And to think I am only 2 months into 40+ years of working..

I have suffered from depression for about 8 years and I take medication for it. I would love to hear from anyone who can relate to this, would be nice to know that I am not alone in feeling like work is a drag and a waste of our precious time

Well done for completing your degree and getting your current job. Of course work can be a drag and feels like a waste of life, but unfortunately most of us have to work. The secret is to find a job you like and a good employer. Having said that it is a shock to the system having to work full time when you aren't used to it. You will soon get used to it though so give yourself time to learn the job and the routine. x
