I've went through a bit of a rubbish time the last few months, and a few friends have been concerned about me and suggested I speak to someone... So I eventually plucked up the courage to phone the doctors yesterday but can't get an appointment for 3 weeks as there fully booked. Is there any other way to get an appointment??
Thanks in advance for your answers

Hi.
Most gp surgeries operate a system to call in the day between certain times to get a cancellation appointment. , I am sure yours will be the same. The receptionists won’t always tell you this, and are happy if you are to give an appointment weeks away.
I would call and tell them that it is more urgent you see your gp sooner how can you go about that and do they operate a system for calling on the day for a cancellation , does your surgery have an online facility at all, most do now and give details of the services online.
Don’t be put off , I know it can be difficult for us to be persistent. You deserve an appointment sooner.
Let us know how it goes. I’d be interested to hear you have an appointment much sooner
I have problems with being able to make appointments as I work an hour from where I live and don't drive and my work is one of the only things keeping me going the now so wouldn't wanna take the day off as when I'm there I can take my mind of things if that makes sense...
I've to phone tomorrow to see if they have anything available sooner
I've not been to the doctor's in about ten years so I'm not fully aware of procedures..
Again thank you for taking the time to reply and sorry for the late response.
I agree with the other replier. You just need to call and be more insistent that it's urgent and do they have any emergency appointments as you need to be seen sooner rather than later. An emergency appointment doesn't have to be anything like a heart attack (for that you would dial 999); it just means it isn't routine and isn't something that can wait so you wouldn't be cheating the system by asking for one. Visit your local 24 hour Urgent Treatment Centre if you are near to one, or can get to one.
You could ask for an emergency appointment with your Doctor . Usually if you phone on the day as soon as they open there are usually appointments allocated with the doctors that you should be able to book. Another way would be is to ask to see a nurse for advise, or ask to be added to the end of one of the doctors surgery?
Obviously I have no idea how your doctor's surgery operates -
If you are struggling - no matter what it is you can phone -
Mental Healthline - 0300 5000 101 - this is a 24 hour help line and is a very helpful service.
I've to phone them tomorrow morning to see if I can get seen sooner but it's hard to work around my work with having to travel an hour's distance on public transport and being at my work is one of the main things keeping me going as I get a break from myself if that makes sense
I'm doing good today stayed at my brother's last night after having the lowest night in my existence on Saturday.. still waiting for an appointment but hopefully be seen this week
Keep on going .. and keep pressing for a GP appointment - Key not to give up - am sure you can help and teach others about life and coping through Crisis .
While going through your 'worst' that will teach you and show you your strength ... we are our own maker and creator . Maybe you can stay with your brother for a bit until you feel more 'stable' ? In yourself . Familiar faces could well be what you need to help get you through - and distracting yourself will help with the anxiety and 'low moods' There is professional support out there but sadly it seems to take so much time to get anything sorted out - but kerp on pushing through no matter what .. When we fall down the only place to go to is to get back up - how ever slowly - and start again .
Embrace the qualities you have - Yes you do have them - we don't always realise it and acknowledge that part in us .
On Saturday night the night before I was having to move house yet again.i had the worst night in my life in terms of mental health. I got drunk and really considered ending everything... I felt so low and like everyone would be better off without me...
My brother helped me move yesterday and I opened up a bit to him I never told him the full extent of how I was feeling as I'm not ready yet but I did confess that I feel like I need help to get over this feeling.
I stayed at his house last night and had a good night watching TV and having a laugh and felt s lot better for it.
I'd like to thank you all for comments and support.
I've never had any problems with my mental state of mind before but have friends thst suffer with various mental health problems so I know a bit about it.
I guess I'm still at the stage where I don't feel I deserve any help like there's people worse off than me and mine pails in comparison to there's
But I'm trying to get an appointment to see the doctor
