Hello Auna,
Welcome to our supportive community. Hopefully you will find folks here are only too willing to come alongside you and share from their personal journeys and experiences. You are obviously having a difficult time right now, have you had a chat about how you are feeling with your GP? They can help not only with medication, but can refer you to your local mental health support services for talking therapies and other interventions. Also check out Mind UK mental health charity as they have a lot of useful information on stress, anxiety and depression. They also have a helpline that you can call. Here is a website link:

Do check out our Pinned Post section for free mental health guides, international crisis support helplines etc.
Keep in touch! Ok folks what can you suggest to help this new member?
Best wishes,
MAS Nurse
Hi Auna. Welcome to you.
Early retirement sounds good to me if it’s an option why not...you could always gradually do some short stints of voluntary work you would enjoy, as you feel more confident maybe...
It sounds like you need to take some advice around the early retirement option , financially maybe ? If so, could you approach age uk or maybe mind or a good financial advisor,to see if they could help, or do you know you would cope ok financially in early retirement ..if you know you will cope financially and your job is making you ill, and this is just my opinion, I would go for it and reach out as suggested by MAS_Nurse, to get your health back on track...
I wish you all the very best and hope others come along with some good tips ..best wishes
Look forward to seeing you around here..x
I don’t know ur current financial situation, but would u be able to live off ur early retirement?
Hi Lu2356, I would be able too but would need to find a part time job it's just I have worked at the same job for so long is very scary, even though my job is not helping my mental health.
Hi.
I had to give up my job due to my mental health. Anxieties got so bad I couldn’t cope with it.
It helped me at the time as I had a therapist, I had self referred for cbt online. It was talking to her about it that helped me decide and give notice.
As has been suggested previously maybe ‘talking therapies’ on the nhs would help you. There will be a waiting list so the sooner you set the ball rolling the better, it takes time ...you could self refer inline or ask your gp to refer you
If you type in NHS talking therapies and your area, you will find the link and on there is a short form to complete.
Best wishes and good luck x
I can relate. I was at the same job for 14 years of my life. During which I developed drinking habits and more anxiety and depression. Hardest times when the same people who drank with me, talked bad about me. They eventually faded out by either moving or getting fired. I got to the point that I no longer fit in. So many younger people around me and I felt like my job was no longer challenging me in the best way. Unexpectedly, I broke my toe and eventually let go. I guess I could never muster the courage to quit bc I couldn’t find other employment.
