Depression
Hi Gary,
I'm trying to think of a song as you've mentioned but the only thing I can come up with is "Holding Back the Years" by Simply Red. The song actually makes me sad because when I was 18 I was waiting to hear back from a company to see if they were going to employ me. My dad and I were in our spare bedroom at home and we had a pool table. I was so sad when I thought I wasn't going to get the job offer and playing pool was my way of trying to keep my mind off it. Anyway, the phone rang and I got the job I wanted and I was the happiest person alive. That song reminds me of happier times and because I feel quite sad just now, hearing it makes me wish I could go back to then but I know its impossible.
The other song that springs to mind is "The Living Years" by Mike and the Mechanics. Again its a reminder of happier times. My ex-partner and I used to go out every Saturday night with another couple. The four of us were really close. The other girl died of cancer and me and my partner split up over 20 years now and I heard this song only a couple of weeks ago on the radio and I had to turn it off because it just reminded me of all the good times we had. It made me sad that I could not turn back the clock to those happier times..
As for getting older Gary, I am 51 and would like to think that I have aged quite well but I have got an 18 year old son who constantly reminds me that I am not that young any more!!
Keep telling him I am glad I have got to this age.....I didn't think I would make it past my 30's. :-)..
Whats your songs? How does ageing make you feel??

Just certain songs bring me back to my youth, I’m only 30 but I overthink everything and have to get my head round my diagnoses xx
I love both of those songs. ❤
I love them also just puts me in a sad mood the rest of the day ❤️
Hiya!
I get this often, especially one that might remind me of my Mum when I was growing up ...
It’s hard going 😢
I get That way too. Oh the memories of a simpler time and place. I do miss it.
Hi there!
I know.... its a shame because I love those songs and they should make me feel happy, but when I hear them now I just feel so sad. I think its because they transport me to a time and world where things were so much simpler and I was probably in the best place I had ever been (although probably also didnt realise it the time - its true what they say about not knowing what you have until its gone!). To me, life and the world has changed so much that I personally don't think its as nice or as good as it was! ...Or maybe I have just got older and dont appreciate some of the changes!! (Does that make sense??)

So true xxx
Many many years ago my Dad would hold me on his lap after dinner and we would listen to the radio. When I happen to hear any of that music it gives me so much comfort and peace. My Dad died when I was 5 he was only 36 years old. Music has allowed me to have a part of him over the years. Pam
