pregnant and feeling low
Hello
I can imagine already having had depression this must be playing on your mind feeling the way you do but if I can try and reassure you a little bit that women that have not previously suffered with depression can get like this when they are pregnant and it usually down to hormones and the changes in the body that are the cause as they are all over the place and for some can be a difficult time but one that passes
Have you been appointed a midwife yet ?
If you have then getting a close and open relationship with them will be the best way to go , they are there for the baby but most important the Mum's well been to
If you are open and honest with them they will be the one's that can have some influence on getting you the support you need now and it does not reflect in the slightest on you or what kind of Mum you will be so please by opening up to them don't ever think it will
I would also speak with my Doctor again , tell them the truth that you feel you are struggling to much and even though you are on a waiting list you need help now and more support
Not sure if you are on any medication at the moment but even though I cannot remember what it is called there is a depressant that you can take while pregnant that they believe to be safe , this is something you could also discuss with your GP
Keep posting on the Community for support , you will get so many helpful suggestions and hopefully knowing someone is about to listen and care will help even if in a small way
Take Care x
Hi Viley1, and welcome to the forum. It is very good that you feel able to talk about how you are feeling. Lulu-1 has given some good advice. Do speak to your doctor and midwife and you may like to contact PANDAS Foundation [pre and post natal depression advice and support]. The helpline number is 0843 289 8401 where you can speak to a helpline volunteer about how you are feeling. They have a lot of information on their website, also pandasfoundation.org.uk. Please talk to your family and friends about how you are feeling so that they can support you. Your GP could refer you to the Perinatal ,Mental Health Team for help and support. Please remember that you are not alone. Please stay on the forum for help and support. Take care, best wishes.
