Hi

I have a partner who suffers from depression. I am not sure how to help him. We do not live together. Any advice would be appreciated.

Good morning GPhelp,

It can be hard to understand, what's troubling someone else. I would encourage your partner first to go to GO and ask for referral to your local mental health team. In the meantime mind, Samaritan and sane all have help line.

Try to keep an open mind, be support and non_judgemental. Also be kind to yourself can put your mental health under pressure, hoping you great the right support for your partner and you

Somewhere on Mind's website they have a booklet or leaflet that is all about how to support a family member or a loved one who's struggling with mental health difficulties. If you can't find it you could give their Infoline number a ring and they'll point you in the right direction or give you some suggestions and advice.
