I'm a few months into a new job and I am feeling my depression flare up . The job is exceptionally stressful (customer service )I also feel anxious that I will lose the job or get a bad reference. It is easy to make mistakes and get told off for something that is not your fault . One of the people training me had a go at me today because I didn't do something the way she had trained me(can do things multiple ways with same result ).Another colleague keeps snapping at me and being sarcastic when I express any opinion .The atmosphere is really intense and there is an in crowd . The managers slag people off in a huddle and offer VERY limited guidance on important matters.
The customers are scary and intimidating . If they don't get what they want , they will shout and sometimes be physically threatening.
I'd like to move departments eventually , but I have to try to stick this out .
I'm feeling so lonely +depressed . I don't have anyone to speak to. I don't feel like anyone cares about me or the way I feel.
I've been bullied my whole life and I am constantly searching for someone or something to make me feel better but it evades me
I had hope when I was younger , now I'm stuck in a low paid , grim job , no partner ,no good friends

I recommend you maybe talking to your boss about your job. Tell him how you're feeling about it. If he hears your side of the story, he will try to reason with you. I understand that you're feeling unhappy about your current occupation. There was a saying I always heard while growing up. "Love what you do". If you're feeling unhappy, maybe consider switching jobs to something more of your taste. Not only will this lift the heavy burden off your shoulders, but it'll give you more time to reflect. I recommend talking to a doctor about early symptoms of depression. He can link you up with someone that you can talk to. I hope this helps.
Hello KittyKat. I see that you just transition into a new job and feeling overwhelm by the changes, trainer, colleague, customer etc. Do not feel alone. It is normal. Even the happiest people on earth would silently be feeling what you are feeling right now.
My advise to you would be to just do your best - with your trainer, colleague, customer and all. There will be good days, there will be bad days. However, do not feel like you have to stick to this job shall you are not happy about it. Always consider Plan B shall this job gets too much too handle for you and go for it.
Hello Kittykat, it does sound like you're going through a really tough time at the moment. The advice you have already received is very sound. It would help to have a chat with your doctor about how you are feeling, and maybe get some medication or psychological therapy support. Also, I agree, you don't have to stay in the job if it really doesn't suit you. Maybe at the moment 'customer service' isn't the field for you as it is so stressful. Folks here are very supportive and willingly to come alongside and listen, you don't have to feel alone, this is a safe space to off load and share how you feel. Take one day at a time. Many people feel like an outsider in a new job at first, wherever you go there are 'in' crowds, but given time you will find some who you click with. Try not to take criticism too personally, which I know is difficult, you are still learning, and yes you may see a more creative way of doing things, which can be threatening to some folks.
