I feel Like Giving Up

Iv'e been dealing with depression for a while and around a month ago I came out to my parents as FtM Transgender but they didn't take it well. I started to self harm back in summer 2016 and it's gotten much worse. Iv'e tried so much, medication, therapy, inpatient and outpatient programs and many more things. None of them have done anything. Also I'm new here so just putting that out there

Welcome Cam to this supportive community. I am sorry that you are experiencing problems at the moment and don't feel supported by your family. Let me just say that what you did, talking to your parents was a very courageous thing to do, well done for trying however it may take them some time to adjust to 'your change' in their eyes. I expect it took you quiet a time to adjust to the realisation too.

It would be beneficial if you could give our community a little more information so that other members may be able to help you feel better about your situation. Is there any members that can give our new member some helpful advice please?

There is information and help out there and I will put some suitable website addresses below. Take care and best wishes.

It's ok to suffer depression - your life has been so incredibly difficult and stressful due the different body to gender identity. I can't imagine how hard that has been.

It's important that you build a support network around you. This is your safety net. There are professionals who can help you as MAS nurse writes.

It's more than disappointing to hear that your parents have not been fully able to support you.

Don't give up, it's all new to your parents and will take time for them to understand, try to have calm talks with them and tell them how you feel when they react the way they do. Check out those websites that are posted and hang in there. I know quite a few people who are going through this and eventually the parents adjust , it's new to them so try to understand it from their side. They love you no matter what.
