Hello, it's good you've reached out to get advice. Usually your doctor will have check compatibility of all the medicines you take before giving you a prescription. But, given what he has said about serious side effects it's caused you alarm. It's not easy taking medicines that you don't know will work or how they may affect you. I don't know anything about your meds but hopefully someone has used them and can talk to you about it.

If you are very concerned, please message me and we can talk you through your concerns.

Hi. A rash on face or upper torso is a sign of being allergic to any medication . You probably won't be but if you notice a rash stop taking the medication and let your Doctor know you had a reaction.. It usually takes a day or two before anything shows up. and if nothing does you're good to go. If you are too scared to try it call your Doctors office I didn't see anything in your post to indicate you are concerned with using this med. with others, but if that is a concern try a drug interaction site on line. Hope this helps. Pam

no its not allergic rash , it can be fatal this rash is emergency case can be fatal i googled this drug .. well i suppose you can be allergic to it too. this rash is blisters appear she said if this happens stop taking then go straight to hospital . phew i just wondering if anyone takes this and what if any side affects they get if any ..?Of the relatively few adverse reactions associated with Lamictal, this one is of greatest concern. Although rare, lamictal skin rashes can lead to more serious and potentially life-threatening conditions, such as Stevens-Johnsons Syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. Both of these complications can lead to death.

Sounds serious indeed. It would make me very cautious. I would definitely want more information. Let us know what you find out. Pam

yes i no but being me i see everything as it will happen to me coz im cursed then the fear sets in this is me i feel like the devil is out to get me..

in reply to juls

I am sure feeling cursed and that the devil is out to get you is part of your illness. There is no reason that you should suffer side effects more than anyone else. Sometimes if you want to start healing you have to take a few risks. If you don't then nothing will change. Not easy I know but then nothing worthwhile ever is. x

Your right nothing will change ,im working on getting rid of this fear of being killed off by my doctors .. take this and that every pill i look at is hard to take . its like hubby brings the meds t me to make sure i take them i think dam now he is in on it.. can yu understand that.

in reply to juls

Yes I can. Logically you know there is no way your doctors or your hubby wants to kill you off, but you still think it. Would it help you to understand that whilst the thoughts that you are feeling are real it is the depression which causes you to think like this? At some point you have to start trusting others if you can't trust yourself.

If your doctors killed you off they would be done for manslaughter as would your hubby! And if they wanted to do away with you there are far easier methods than poisening you. Keep telling yourself this as it might help. x

Hi Juls,

I am more confident the doctor will do the right thing because the medication combination has come from your psychiatrist who is the mental health expert.

A few people I have spoken to about my situation are surprised by the polypharmacy (the technical term for combining medications) prescribed by my psychiatrist.

The real expert in medications and side effects etc is your pharmacist. Maybe you could call in for a medication review.

One thing I do for safety is to keep a card in my purse of all my medication so that if something drastic happens and I can't communicate with the helpers, the information is there.

Being depressed about 90% of the time annually, Lamotrigine titrated up to 400 mg (200 mg morning and 200 mg night) has made a massive positive difference to my life. I work, go to the gym and I have better relationships with people. After a year on it, recently I ran out on a Friday and decided not to order some on the Monday. By Wednesday, I'd crashed to a deep depression, when I was hoping I'd go up if I stayed off it. Obviously everyone is unique with meds, so I'm only saying how it has impacted on me :0) It's a great drug for me with no side-effects (except diary management and time-keeping), after all the others had been tried (quetiapine, aripiprazole, lithium, etc. etc.). I most strongly advise that no-one stops it abruptly.

I'm on it. They gradually start you on a low dose. Then wait to see if your ok. Then they will increase the dosage if you need it over time. I'm on 150mg. I've had no problems. You'll be ok. Don't stress about it.

Hi, I have been taking Lamotrigine for around 12 months with no side effects. I was also warned by my psychiatrist about a rash but it's standard protocol for them to tell you all possible side effects.

Hi, I'm taken lamotrigine 275mgs twice daily for epilepsy & I find it ok. I have no side effects from it.
