Hearing voices is quite common and not necessarily a symptom of mental illness by itself. You say that you are very low. If this feeling has gone on for more than a few weeks it could be a sign of depression. Go see your doctor and tell him how you feel. He is able to help.

Welcome Lynsey

I am always hearing voices, I do not always act upon them, if my thoughts were dangerous and I acted upon them I would worry. So I feel all is ok.

If I start answering back I suppose I would start and worry.

If you are concerned talk to your GP if you are feeling low or in some form of conflict with your thoughts.

Sometimes I wonder it is part of being human. When I write and type and also read I hear the brain reading or considering what I am wanting to say, that is normal. I also feel if that did not happen is would be a very uninteresting world
