I'm not sure what has brought me to this page but I suffer with SAD which each and every winter brings me back to this bad place in life where I have no energy for life no love & no purpose through out the rest of the year I'm a happy person & then it hits me & I feel guilty for feeling sad ?

Hi masie , your not on your own , I suffer exactly the same as you , I have depression anyway but come winter I am awful . I was told to use a sunbed ? But no way am I using one of them , so your not alone . Linda X

Hello

You can buy a special lamp that you keep next to your bed that acts like summer sunlight called a SAD LAMP. You can get then on Amazon an sometimes Asda and Lidl. You switch them on before you get up and they make you feel it is a lovely sunny day. Give them a try

Is there ? Now I am sure I was told about this too only I forgot where I can get them from . Thank you borderriever .. Best wishes Linda

I'm the same. always had bouts of sadness but come October and I can feel this horrible feeling creep over me. I don't have a bedside lamp as I wear a eye mask every night. I do however have a massive desk lamp at work which my company supplied for me. There are about 4 people on my floor alone that have them. It does help but if you already have an underlying issue you may need meds or to chat to someone. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi, and welcome to the community. I have SAD too, and I own one of the lamps discussed. I use it for sun set and sun rise. It's slowly getting brighter as I type; my alarm will go off at 7:30.

I use my overhead lighting during the winter. I keep it on until around 9pm and then use softer lighting. It helps to trick my mind, otherwise I'm fast asleep by 5pm.

I know the weather is awful, but I find it really hard not to spend time outdoors. So yesterday, when there was a break in the rain, I wiped my plastic chair down and sat in my back garden. It was very cold, but still invigorating, and full of fresh air.
