citalopram question

how long does it take for citalopram to kick in?

I had my dose put up to 20mg a few weeks ago, I know it'll take time but I'm finding things extra hard right now and I'm feeling pretty shitty

I am taking escitalopram and that took about 8 weeks to really start working, but everyone is different....

Citalopram can be increased further though, so the option is there for you to be put on a higher dose...

I went from 10mg ( which had virtually no effect on me) to 20mg and it took about 2 months to start to have a effect. It got me to a place where I actually felt I was climbing out of the hole which was swallowing me up. It gave me the opportunity to help myself. I'm not off it completely and I only took it for 6 months. Im not completely anxiety free but I'm now able to deal with the blips!

Usually about 4,weeks. If you increased the dose longer ago than that ?further increase to max 40mg or change ad. . .?discuss with your gp
