I have been taken 40mg of Citalopram for over a year and still have good day's and bad. I started on a low dose when l got run over on my push bike. It hasn't been a pleasant number of years between an abusive relationship, broken wrist, shingles and unemployment.
Does this drug contribute to weight gain and also loose it's effect?

Hi you have not had much look in recent times and I hope things get better for you. I don't know if Citalopram makes you put on weight but some ad's do. Have you googled the side effects? I think all meds lose their effect over time and if you think yours are go back to your doctors and change. A year is not very long though so I reckon you will be ok on them for a while yet.. x
Hi there I'm Dens, I can answer yes to all of your questions. Pills/meds. aren't a cure they help to alleviate our profound emotional swings so therefore you will continue to experience good and bad days that's why we are encouraged to keep busy, do things that make us feel good all positive things even, if like me you cannot walk or exercise properly, read a book albeit you won't necessarily remember the story from page to page, watch interesting TV or comedies. Try and see people so you don't feel cut off, difficult I know especially during a bad patch when your bed is calling your name.
Shingles are probably a result of the stress you've been under what with the accident and a relationship with someone not worthy of you.
Since my accident I have doubled my weight almost, luckily I was very slim before but now, as you can see from my photo I'm a chubby, overweight living in a svelte like body. Don't worry about that as it will bring you down, concentrate on positive things. Take care and good luck we're always here to try and help xxx Dens
Thanks for your email. It's a comfort to know l'm not alone as you do begin to wonder and doubt yourself.
I have omitted to confess that now and again the bottle becomes my companion. Once on it l don't know when to stop and in the process not remembering too much actually causing damage to myself, cuts, grazes, bruises and black eye/s. Physically waking up in the clothes l was originally wearing.
I wouldn't admit it as its makes feel a failure and out of control even more. There is only so many excuses you can make to people.
Right stop there!!!!!!!! I do not know what your tipple is BUT enjoy the taste as you drink savoir it don't just chuck it down your throat. I too love to indulge, wine is my preferred drink and although I have never favoured G&T my friend introduced me almost with a peg on my nose and I really enjoy one now and then. As far as I was concerned gin was the best jewellery cleaner ever. Please do not become dependent on anything other than yourself as you will self destruct. Step back, as if as you describe, you awake with the same clothes, injuries, you have gone too far. Be realistic you need to be able to function and being out of it does nothing to help depression in fact it hinders it. Please don't go down that road, talk to the site or if you prefer to me so that you feel that there is always someone there for you. Also have a bottle of sparkling water next to you and for every glass of booze follow it with a glass of water that way you rehydrate yourself and don't do stupid things. Keep in touch x Dens
I have taken on board so on a visit to the off licence rather than running to Gordon l bought 4 cans of stella. Feeling alright but can't sleep. Decided to water the product down instead of a strong gin. Today is here maybe l will be a bit more switched on.
Thanks sorry to be a nuance but no one quite understands im in a world of my own. I like to just look out of the window and don't even know what lm thinking of. Well nite
