The problem you have needs you to visit your GP. He will help you control any depression you may have. So see your Doctor !!. How old are you ???

Do you feel unsettled by anything that is affecting you. To know your concerns goes a long way in controlling your depression. Are you learning a new job or are you stressed by it, ask yourself if something in your family/boyfriend are upsetting you, the list of worries can go on and on.

Sometimes as we become older that can cause a stress as we look back on our needs and feel we have not reached our aims in life. I feel the way you wrote your post you are still young,

Hi Lirra

Welcome to the site, you've come to the right site if you want support, everyone is Really supportive & helpful.

Being off sick from a job isn't easy! I spent many days at home due to various physical & mental illnesses! And I found it difficult to motivate myself, but eventually with help I managed to find ways of coping! Do you work in a manual job or an office? How long have you been off? Sorry to ask these questions, but it can make a difference as to how individuals can feel!

Have you been back to your GP to tell him how you are feeling now? He may be able to help you control your pain more effectively & it may help you with your mood! It would be worth a visit to talk to him & explain how you are feeling! He may up or change some of your meds!

Not being at work can be as stressful, and feel the same as being at work especially if you're in pain! Has your GP recommended you stay signed off work? Being of work for a week I found I felt as nervous about going back to work as I did being signed of for 6 weeks!

It can be lonely when the only one who knows how we are feeling is you! When you are in pain it can be difficult to motivate yourself, so try not to be too hard on yourself! Being in pain can take its toll on you! Take a day at a time, But please don't feel give up & feel alone, you taken some important steps today signing onto the site. You can be yourself here & not be judged!

I only joiined the group a couple of weeks ago, but I was made welcome & supported by everyone from my first post! I wish I'd found the site earlier!

You will find nothing but a big welcome & support and friends here & you've come to the right place!

Take Care. spykey

Hi Liraa,

Welcome to the group.

Sorry to hear about your problems. It can be very lonely being at home, especially when it gives you a lot of time to think.

How long have you been on your anti-depressants?

Are you doing any type of CBT or course to help you along side your anti-depressants?

Are you seeing anyone apart from your GP? for example a psychiatrist or a psychologist?

Do you have a close friend that you can talk to?

It is tough suffering from depression, but I found doing a CBT course on anxiety and depression helped. I have also done a Stress Control course. Both of which were available within my NHS authority. I pushed my doctor to do more than just give me pills as I knew it I would need more as the pills would only help me be able to think more normally again.

I've had my pills changed because I suffered from side affects and I also had to get the dosage upped as I went through a bad time and increasing them helped me get back to a sense of normality.

I have learned how to do mindfulness breathing, relaxation techniques and also to have a sleep routine to help with me not sleeping.

One of the key things I've found is that having a good diet and getting exercise is key to helping with recovery, well it has been with me anyway. If you have a bad back I know exercise will be difficult, but even if you can get out in the fresh air and go for slow gentle walks that would help. Maybe swimming might help you, but your physiotherapist or whoever you are seeing about your back will help.

I've found it useful to keep a diary so when I have a low point I can look back and see what I've done and that helps me define what cause the low point.

I hope this gives you some ideas of things to try or look at in your own circumstances and I know others on the forum will be able to give you suggestions from their own experience.

Take care

Hazel
