It depends on the medication. If you don't feel an improvement within 4 weeks go back to your GP. Not all meds are suitable for everyone and it's trial and error finding the one that is best for you.

No problem hope you get better soon.Yes I've heard of them I was on these for years and they were good for me and helped but I tried loads that were not before I got to them. However my husband was put on these and he wasn't and had to change to something else. He was exhausted all the time and getting headaches. Don't give up you will find one that works for you. Maybe keep a note of any side affects and show them to your GP. Also if you don't see an improvement in low mood and anxiety levels then may be worth asking to up the dose.

Hi there most antidepressants take at least 2 weeks to feel and bit of improvement, but I would wait at least a month, at the beginning the side effect might make youThink that they are making you worse, but not patience.

There is loads of info on NHS Site about Depression and what helps etc.Good luck and give the meds a chance to work

Hi your doctor should have told you that you might feel worse for a while until you begin to feel better.  Didn't s/he do that?   It takes around 4-6 weeks to get fully into your system and they have an accumulative effect.

I am on sertraline 150 mgs.  I started off on 100 mgs but they didn't help and the rise in dosage did help a lot.  They suit me fine.   x
