I'm a teenager in my GCSE year and I was diagnosed with depression in April 2015.
I was doing really well for a while but recently I've been feeling just like I was before (really low) and I don't know how to cope. I need someone to talk to and I need someone now.

Does your school or college have someone you can talk to? If you ask your pastoral care tutor as many do have a 'safe space' facility wherein counsellors come into the school. Do ask, and if not then return to your GP as they can refer you for counselling providing you are over 16. If you are below that age then it is important that you talk to someone - parent, school, or GP - and don't try to cope using this site for support. Take care.
They give you time to sort out what is causing the depression and how you can adapt to it.
Go back to your g.p. and discuss this. As also stated can you get mentor or pastoral help from your school or college.
Keep on the good work ...you WILL get there.

Hello Lettie
You have been to your GP and had your medication upped
May I say go back to see your GP and try and get some talking therapy, The medications given for depression could affect your learning. You need to be focused and your mind clear while you study, these medications may suppress your concentration.
If you feel you need to talk here we can do that although generally if you are below sixteen we would normally refer you to talk again with your Doctor
Talking therapy works well when you have the right person to talk to and we just dont click with everyone...You are aware that you need to be listened to so i agree with the other members . Go back to your gp tell them upping the meds hasnt helped and ask to be referred to a new therapist and speak with a school counselor as well they really do know what they are talking about..
The more support you get from all areas of your life the better and well done you for recognizing you need some support x

We can of course listen and give you some forms of support, when you send a post, mark it community only that restricts anyone not a member of site reading your problems, they work on a form of restricted access.
Have you tried writing your feelings down in a book and then listening to some relaxation therapy/music on youtube.
You should also try listening to soothing music or relaxation therapy when you study and do your homework and not push yourself. All so write down ten positive things about yourself.
Example?
I like my eyes. I like my feet and so on.
Write whatever you like about yourself no matter how silly, then read them back aloud and listen to the positive achievement you have made. Completmenting yourself is a good way to feel good about yourself.
You may have depression, but it is up to you whether you let it rule you.
Please remember that some of the world's most intelligent and creative people have suffered from depression it's a mountainous climb, that at times can be trying, but each time you reach the summit you can feel good about the journey and proud that you kept on climbing.
Hi Lellie, having suffered from depression myself I can appreciate how you feel, I found CBT helpful at one stage, and anti-depressants at another, but just talking helps, you can email me at tonysallis at fsmail dot net if you want to talk
