Hi Zee are you suffering from depression? Or do you think you are? No one can diagnose you on here as there are no doctors or nurses here. It is very difficult to suggest anything with the information you gave.
There are a couple of anxiety sites on here and they might have more understanding of what you are going through. x
Hello Zee, this sounds to me a very typical panic attack.
I would see your GP who should be able to prescribe something to help. Its by no means unusual so don't worry, see your GP.
You sound young, but even us oldies can get the same , we just worry about it a bit less ,and the less you worry about it the fewer and less strong panic attacks you will get. But do see your GP.
Hello Zee
I feel this could be possibly something else other than Depression, it could be ANXIETY.
There is a further site on Healthunlocked called ANXIETY SUPPORT.
Do you feel you suffer from gasping for air, or hypo ventilate. If that is the case some people can black out for a time and that could be causing you not to remember what has passed.
At this time I would now suggest that you discuss this problem with your GP.
One thing you can try is if you feel you are having problems with breathing try either breathing into a paper bag or cover you mouth with your cupped hands and breathe calm deep breaths, the evacuated air will slow your breathing down.
I do on occasions cover the other site if you need to talk as you could get some benefit from that place
Anxiety and depression often go together but the fact that you don't seem to remember what happened during your anxiety attack is a bit worrying so it would be good ask your GP to investigate some possible causes - which would include thyroid, B12 and possibly even diabetes. Both anxiety and depression are actually labels for a cluster of symptoms, but don't actually identify the cause of those symptoms - and there are a lot of potential causes.
One thing that might help is mindfulness which might give you some techniques for handling the attacks before they get bad - I found 'Mindfulness: a practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world' (Mark Williams and Danny Penman) very helpful in dealing with both my anxiety and depression when my B12 problems were really bad. You might also find joining a meditation group or even yoga helpful.
