I think oversleeping is the ultimate form of coping with tension. You literally pull yourself out of life. It's so difficult to reverse.

Oversleeping Is My Way of Coping with Tension
That's the only time I feel tension free is after I've slept. I might if I'm lucky get an hour or so without tension.
Just had my medication altered and I slept from 9.00p.m. until 9.45 a.m. this morning. Not sure I want that to happen everyday. But I do feel less stressed, hope it lasts . Regards Lorna.
I tend to sleep a lot anyways. AS sufferers naturally need above average sleep. I can easily go to bed at half 10 and get up at 10am. That doesn't phaze me, especially in the winter months. Sometimes I worry isn't good for me as they say pver-sleepoing is bad, but I don't think it's "over-sleeping" as my body seems to need it. I only sleep this much when working full time. I feel relaxed when I'm really tired as I'm less liekly to think about things x
I seem to need a lot more sleep than anyone else I know, and I genuinely feel better on 10 hours a night though I very very rarely get it as I am a big worrier about absolutely everything. This morning I woke up at 6 am ( for around the third time awake that night which is good for me); I couldn't go back to sleep because I was worried that if I set my alarm to wake me up a bit later (say 8am) that my neighbour may hear it and it could wake my neighbour up and annoy them , so I couldn't get back to sleep again because of this. I'm very tired now as is pretty usual as I only occasionally get the sleep I need.
I do think some people can oversleep though as a way of escape; sometimes the body needs it; sometimes it is an escape thing for some people.

I sometimes sleep all day and night. Sometimes the more sleep I have the more I need. Have missed work over it. It's really hard but if I can get up and break the cycle I feel so much better.
