Hi invisible don't worry about it. We all do stupid things from time to time and the best thing to do is laugh and say 'Oops silly me'. And why was your co-worker so angry? That was out of order and it sounds to me they have the problem not you. Forget about it and move on and carry on enjoying your job. x

Tell your co worker to get a grip and go get angry at something important. Wellies over trousers, trousers over wellies. So he ended up with a random welly wedged in his trouser leg? It's not like you hit him with a stick or something! One time in class I accidentally smacked a kid in the head with my iPad. Another time we were doing PE and I bowled the ball and knocked a girl's tooth out! Unexpected things happen when you work with children. I'm more concerned at the gross over exaggeration on the part of your coworker to be honest. Does she need some time on the thinking spot?

Thanks you ever so much for your kind reply exactly as I'm new to working with children I genuinely thought trousers were supposed to go on wellingtons .exzactly she could have been nice about it thank you :)

Hello invisible, that sounds horrible - I hate being criticised or told off. Really makes me feel bad, and I can't stop thinking about it, round and round. It almost doesn't matter whether the criticism was justified or not.

These days I try to distract myself by thinking about something completely different, something pleasant. Or better still do something else that takes up your thoughts. It's difficult but worth the effort because rumination is bad news.

Look after yourself

That's so funny! Just like the things I have done all my life. For years now when it happens I laugh along with people instead of getting embarrassed and feeling stupid. What better than to give a few people a giggle! Your manager obviously has a problem of her own and I am serious, she is suffering stress or anger management problems. Getting angry, and in front of children is inappropriate. Always remember, you are not stupid, what you do is stupid!! Although this wasn't! Good Luck!

Hi there I hope your feeling a bit better by now. That coworker sounds

Very unhelpful, just ignore her. You will learn as you go along and really

Once your a good kind and caring person that's more important than wellies

Over pants or pants over wellies.

You will get more confident as each day progresses . So relax and just keep

A sense of humour.

Hi Hannah thank you ever so much for your reply aww thank you xx

Everyone makes mistakes that is how we learn sometime I would say don't worry you wont do that again! It was very trivial anyway .Try and observe what other staff are doing and if you are not sure just ask.The next time you go in is an new day just go with a smile and I am sure you will enjoy it again.Working with children is great fun and hard work. The worker you were with was over reacting.

in reply to

Thank you very much for your kind reply I will try to go in tomorrow will a smile:)

Don't forget when we are depressed we are extra sensitive because of bad self-image, so small criticisms (even unjustly I think in this case) can be taken a lot harder than meant. Perhaps if you can have a word somewhere about you having a few issues, just trying to get your feet back on the ground etc, then people might go a bit easier on you.

Thank you very much for your kind reply yeah.your apsolputely right I will perhaps inform people who don't know how I feel thank.you

Hi invisible, that really sounds like a minor mistake... I also work with children, and aa someone already pointed out, there are far worse things than the order of wellies and trousers. (it isn't clear if this happened when you tool the kids outside. If so, the 'worst' that could happen to the kids is a bit cold.

It can be hard to remember the good things when we are depressed. Try to think about the good that you are doing with the kids.

Hi Hectors house

Thank you ever so much for your kind reply.your apsoloutelu right certainty wont be making that mistake again it did yes bed we had to help children put wellingtons on outside .thanks again

One wonders why they have to comment on what other people are doing and not just concentrate on doing their own job. xx

in reply tosecondhandrose2

Exactly she could have just gone up to the child tucked the trousers inside instead of saying it loudly thank you xx

Hi,

Just wanted to join everyone and say, ignore the other co worker. The attitude says more about her than you. To be honest I've never worked with children and I'm sure I'd do a lot of little silly things. I know it is easy said than done but don't worry about it. When we are learning we all do things the way we think they should be done until someone shows us otherwise. We just learn and progress. You haven't endangered anyone and the child probably thought it was quite funny,

in reply to21esme

hi Sarah thank you ever so much for your kind reply xxx

Cannot see the problem life is full of amusing errors, personally just make light of it and carry on regardless. As the old Carry On film was named

Personally I cannot work out in what context did this happen to anger a work chum I understand you work with kids I suppose it would have been even more funny if you had put them on the kids Head.

Do not worry about it, carry on with your work we all do strange things sometimes, tell them to lighten up no-one was hurt.
