David

Keep in touch with Dr. And if you feel things are getting worse, do let him

Know. This time of year is hard too, here in Dublin it's grey sky's and rain and it would depress a saint. Let us know how you are getting on. It does help

To have a little chat here.

Hello David

Sorry you are feeling so low, medications like you take are best taken at night Amytryptalne is one of them as they have the problem of making you tired and takes any sharpness out of decisions you may have to take at work. Remember you want to sleep at night and wake up during the day.

Many of the slow release medications build up over an extended period and if you can take medications throughout the day is better than taking a large kick in the morning as the drugs on slow release have the problem of a sharp slap at the beginning of the day and tapering off in the afternoon. Try taking that medication with your lunch or evening meal this will act more at the end of the day and again assist in giving you sleep as many patients with Depression end up not sleeping and feeling washed out in the morning and then blunt your decision making. Hence the dose of Quetiapine been eeked out throughout the day as a reduced dose.

I take Amytryptalene 75mg at night with citalopram, (sorry for spelling) this seems to make me more with it in the morning as I was feeling washed out during the day if I took my meds in the morning.

One thing I was instructed to do was when I was depressed the brain has problems when trying to deal with multi problems all at once. The best way was to look at the easiest problem first then take the other more severe problems on with small bites and not try and deal with all at the same time. We are not computers and we all need to allow our brains a bit of a breather when dealing with conflicting problems.

GOOD LUCK

Bob

Hang in there through the medication challenges- I'm sure you'll get those balanced up. Watch it with the amitriptylline as it can make your body feel like a big slug, although can help you get drowsy at night. My shrink put me on omega fish oils and high dose Vitamin D every morning with my medication which have helped me to both avoid side effects and to get into a rhythm of awake during the day and sleep at night. [hugs] Stay in touch with your psychiatrist and maybe see a cognitive-behavioural therapist/ psychologist for practical exercises to help you live a better life. Worth their weight in gold!

Hi David,

I know I don't know you but I'm sorry to hear you're having such a tough time. Hold on to those thoughts of your family ~ as it might help you through the tough days.

I don't know if its ever been suggested to you but I've been reccomended to make a self sooth box. Something to brighten bad days.

You can put what you like in there like photos, notes, cards and other keepsakes that may remind you of good things.

Sending you a big hug and hope you feel better soon.

Hello David,

I'm really sorry that I've not replied sooner. For some reason this post didn't appear on the newsfeed. It was only while browsing through all the posts that I saw yours.

Really sorry to hear that this is how you're feeling just now, but I do understand. It's so lovely that you've got such a lovingg and supportive family.

You're such a nice person, I hope this lifts soon.
