Hi juju43 hope your keeping well thank you for answering my post ! Im the same i dont like going out on my own usually my wife goes out with me ! God bless you david x
Hi, hope you are feeling a bit better today. The fact that you just watch tv and do washing and tidying up is fine because at least you are doing something. Even taking time to write this post is good. I had a period in my life when to the outside world I looked ok but behind closed doors I felt useless, unloved, depressed and lost y confidence. It took time for me to get help and support which gradually helped me and today 13 years on my life has totally transformed. I want to encourage you to firstly developed the mindset that " I will feel better again" write down the things you want to be able to do, then picture yourself doing them and imagine how the happiness you would feel as you do them. Is their a support group near you that could help? Is their someone who can help you in your journey to feel happier? Have a wonderful day and may the SMILE be with you all day.

Hi Celtic27. Its such a harsh thing for anyone to go through & hard for people that are close to you. Wish I had words that would comfort & help make you feel better. You are blessed to have people there for you. Cherish them. Meditation is one of the only things that have helped me through. Hang in there, try to think of the positives & try to live in the moment.
Hi juzme thank you for taking the time to answer my post ! I am blessed to have a great family who have been amazing. ! Im going to go on you tube and try some of the meditation available on there again take you for taking the time to answer my post david

Hi welly im a 52 year old male ive lve got a amazing wife and supportive. Sisters and btothers without them i doubt i could get through this without there help and support ! I try to watch television problems that i like and comedy dvds thank you for taking the time to reply to my post take care and good luck david
I am sorry you are feeling down at the moment. Do you get an opportunity to go on YouTube? If you do download some of their tapes, they have all different ones, choose one that suits you. If this is not possible do you like cooking? I find baking therapeutic π Sometimes watching TV can have a negative affect unless you watch programmes that are funny or educational. Try deep breathing, or get a relaxation tape, these symptoms will not last forever, tell yourself you WILL conquer them. Hope I have been of some help to you ππ
Depression & not being able to sleep is awful ., I was on & off for years like it., but lately I am great it is like getting freedom at last! Just praying it keeps this way., but not sure how I got better., things I did were docs changed my meds to sertraline., I stopped alcohol completely & started taking magnesium citrate powder in water every night aprrox hour before bed ., the calming mineral ., so not sure which has helped the most or combination of all ., & plenty of healthy food not processed & cut sugar out as much as poss ., it may not take your worries away but hopefully make you better equipped to deal with those demons ! Good luck X
I like how you have cut the sugar and eating clean or healthier have helped your mood. Am a strong believer that we become what we eat. Great adviceππΌ
Hi wendy my demons seem to build up to a point were. I wonder is it worth the trouble then i. Remember ;my wife and sisters but i get periods when it gets so strong. That i feel breathless i find these groups are a great help david
You are not alone, we all suffer similarly and feel similarly bad when we have wonderful friends and family supporters. I'm sorry I have no magic to solve your suffering, but perhaps if you simply go with the down feelings and endure the suffering which will diminish
Hello David
We all have are demons when we have mental health problems, you are really lucky having family that love and support you. In my case I have never been given support by family and Hazel and Pax are the only ones who know my fears and concerns.
I mention in a prior post, relaxing techniques I now use them before and when I go to bed. That seems to help me. You could discuss these exercises, with your GP. It may work or help
Hi David, I am lucky like you in having wonderful husband, family and friends but every so often the depression rears up for no reason at all. I have tried every holistic remedy under the sun and I am on anti depressents for life. Utube has helped a lot, lots of Mindfullness tapes to listen to which help. I am now getting into walking, so that by the time the next episode comes on I will hopefully be able to continue. I find sitting at home no good at all,so even a little walk does help. Take care you will get better again.love from Lin xx
Hi lin hope your feeling better unfortunately i had a problem the last. Week felt really. Down couldnt sleep last night at all. I had what i call dark moments cried a lot last night and again this afternoon to the stsge i felt i was. Going to do something daft but. I remember my wife and sisters and hope that helps me. Please dont anyone judge me. Its taken me a lot to write this take care david
Hi David. No one on this site judges you, everyone is very sympathetic and want to help. Depression is the worst illness possible. Ruby Wax is a sufferer and whatever she says makes good sense. Just take each day at a time and slowly you will feel better even if like me it will return. Anti depressents help a lot, so hope you are taking these. Take care from Lin x
Hi linn im sorry if ive picked you up wrong that was not my intension ! I hold the people. On here in high regard !i take venlafaxine, amitriptalene, quetiapine plus other Meds slept 6 hours today well done take care
Hi David, hope you had a good nights sleep or I meant to say better. I took venlafaxine and was happy with it but decided to change to Duloxetine so that I wouldn't have re occurring bouts of depression but I still do. I didn't know you could take amitytriptaline as well as the anti depressant. I heard it was good for sciatica which I have. Weather awful here in the North West but I am still going out for a walk along the canal. Take care from Lin xxx
Hi lin hope you are well today , im on a lot of different meds but still get depression with black moods i hate it ive got it most days ! Just take each day as it comes take care david
Hello David. Depression is a pest at times. I was staying in 10 days in a row, a month ago but since trying things below, I feel some improvement. Do you take antidepressants? I take fluoxotine (Prozac). I have also started taking (from Amazon) orange flavoured cod liver oil for the past 5 weeks. I started at 2 teaspoons a day and have increased to 3. I read research that it is good for depression and I seem to have more enthusiasm! It is cod liver oil from Norway! Liquid CLO over pills is recommended, taken with food to avoid indigestion. Do you have a dog or know of anyone who needs theirs walking?I have had a few false starts but have got to walking mine twice a day and it feels good. Reading totally takes you out of yourself, so is good too. Oh and relaxation CDs! In fact, my ex husband has bipolar and saw a psychiatrist the other day and he said relaxation is THE most important thing. I have an NHS cd (from a community psychiatric nurse years ago!).If you contact your local mental health hospital, they have an information section and could mail you one. (You tense and relax groups of muscles and it helps sleep). They also have a booklet on not being able to sleep. (They have many different booklets).Good luck.
