Evening all! It's been a muggy and humid few days here in Wales. Finally finished work on Friday for six weeks which is a little bit lovely. Mum not doing too badly, for those of you would want to know. Not really much better, but no worse either really. We're off on holiday on Tuesday; a week in Kos. Quite apprehensive about that, but I know it'll be ok. Any tips on how to lesson the effects of what I think might have been a horsefly bite? It started as about the size of a 5p piece this morning, but is getting bigger and bigger as the day goes on! I've tried piriton, mosquito spray, sudo crem, aloe vera gel and ice. But it's still growing! X

Hi Lucy , now the horsefly bite, try holding ice cube in tissue to it. Good to

Hear from you, won't be long now till your Hol.

It's understandable to be a bit nervous about Hol, but just take things as

They come. It will do you and kids a world of good. It will be lovely to get away

And just chill out, you need this Lucy.

Your mother is in my prayers.

Hugs

Good evening Lucy. Seems I'm on with what I call the "night shift " posters today ( you and Hannah and others like Ms Sad is what I mean as some of you tend to post later in the evening) I'm usually an early bird but seeing as I am not sleeping at all at the moment I may as well stay up a bit later before even attempting to sleep so here I am!

Don't really know what you can try for the bite but looks like Hannah has made a really good suggestion.

Wishing you well for your hols; not long to go now at all! I hope you and the kids have a really nice time there; you certainly deserve a holiday Lucy for the amount you work a medal would sometimes seem to be more appropriate and I know I often say it but I really admire you for how you manage so well with so many different responsibilities in your life. Have been thinking of you and your family issues at the moment and sending you all my warmest wishes.

Your sense of humour.

And don't forget your Sunblock.

Hi Lucy. How lovely for you, a break from work! Glad your mum is still the same (not worse) and it's great to hear you are going on holiday - Kos, lucky you! See the chemist about the horsefly bite as they can be nasty - I once had one and had to have antibiotics and you don't want to be stuck with it on holiday! Come back safe and sound. Suexx

Morning Lucy,

Hope you are well. Your insect bite sounds like it is infected. You might need antibiotics. Can you see the gp today. I get insect bites quite often. They must like me. Nothing too bad this year so far and Ive been camping twice!

Hope you have a good holiday. You deserve it. Bet you are glad to have finished for the summer.

Sorry I havent been on here much but Im trying to get into a new way of life. So far so good but I still have times where I have no energy - like this morning. It is so hot though, but Im not complaining. We just have to pace ourselves.

Take care and chat soon.

Morning Lucy Hannah, Dave , Sue and Gemma.

I haven't been here for a while I check in on three sites now, but mainly stay on living with anxiety.

Lucy , I would just check with the doctor about the horse fly bite ,it looks like you've tried most things and you don't want to think about it whilst on holiday.

You've picked the hottest part of the year for kos, its a fairly hot and dry place, I think its the nearest greek island to Africa , not sure ?.

Like Hannah says take plenty sunblock , I don't know whether I will get a holiday this year yet ,I am stil off work and recovering but my spine is now healed and reasonably straight, Its just a bit stiff, the foots nerve damaged but getting there , and I am now thinking about what to do as far as work is concerned .

I go back to see the doc about my foot at the end of next week !.

I have been feeling very low the last couple of weeks ,that's why I am dodging from site to site.

Sue and Hannah ,, I know you both like art, I have been putting a few of my pictures on living if you fancy a look, and sue I know you have a degree in art , my tutor was tony barrow, I don't know if you have heard of him ? ,check his work out on Google.

Sorry for butting in on Lucy's post just thought I would check in and see you all .

Pete xx.

Morning Lucy :)

Glad you've got some well deserved time off now. I hope you have a lovely holiday, I'm sure you'll really benefit from it. I'm glad that your mum is stable - remember she's only a phone call away. About the bite, I second what other people have said, it's better to check it out, especially as you've tried a lot of natural remedies already. Hope it clears up before Tuesday.

Lucy,

I've been thinking of you hoping that your Mum is doing okay and that you don't have too much extra pressure on you. Still think you are an amazing lady and hope you have a wonderful relaxing holiday. It's going to be REALLY hot in Kos. Enjoy yourself. Oh and go to the chemist about the bite. I reckon antihistamine cream. I think I used vinegar earlier this summer for a horse fly bite but that is meant to be for wasp stings!

Thanks all of you. I went to the chemist but he suggested I paid a visit to the GP. She said it was definitely infected and gave me antibiotics. Clever things they are - I've only taken three doses and it looks so much better already!
