Find a GP that actually respects your mental health. They should be referring you and suggesting antidepressants.

I've been here too. I started with antidepressants but it took an intervention from my family and involvement of community mental health team for me to actually find treatments that helped and get back on my feet again.

The system works ; the help is out there. Just find a new GP and keep pushing. The drugs DO work in this case. You'll see : )

Oh dear. Are there no other GP surgeries in your area? Or GPs in your surgery|"practise"? I'm sorry about your asthma. I have been in that position where I am so confused that I don't want to do a thing. YOU WILL FIND CLARITY!

Try as a first step: The Mind (charity) helpline, maybe the Samaritans (I've called them before), and NHS online services to find NHS GP Surgery in your area that actually bloody cares.

Ok let me know if I can help in any other ways. This message is a bit rushed / can't help it / soz!

what do u mean by clarity and I have tried so many gps in my practise and they all seem they don't care and I cant move gps as the gps I'm with its in the catchment area where I live and I can keep missing jobby appointments due to me not wanting to do anything and I don't know if I can change the benefits I'm on and do I just look on line for the mind charity and what can they do and what can the Samaritans do for me and I'm feeling to good.

Your GP is not doing his/her job properly. Only last April I went to my GP, said I was very depressed, my GP asked me if I had thought about ending my life, and I said Yes (that was the truth). She gave me 10 valium tablets to calm me down, and also a prescription for Sertraline an anti depressant. I am guessing here that you are a young woman. I personally find that female GPs from about age 30 to 45.ish are the most compassionate for a female patient. (sorry guys, I don't know if that is the case for males). I have found older male GPs particularly to be quite arrogant at times. Is there someone you could take with you the next time you see a GP? When you feel like you do, you need emotional support and another voice to back you up. Good luck x

How long have you felt like this? Did something particular trigger it? It sounds to me like you would benefit from counselling. My GP offered me that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, also I found my local MIND group by googling them to find them in my area and they have drop in meetings for support. I didn't actually go but the lady organising it was very friendly and helpful. The people who run my local one had all been through bad depression and mental health illness themselves.
