Dead tooth from Shingles

I had shingles in the mandible. I left Postherpetic Neuralgia in two teeth bot molars. They regularly cause pain so had X-ray showing 'dead according to dentist. One has been removed and the pain (in both surprisingly as the other is on the other side) gone I think. The remaining tooth is also less painful now. It has a silver crown.

Should this tooth be removed or can I leave it until it causes pain? As far as I know it is not rotten just the nerve is dead and the tooth not receiving nutrients.

I have next NHS checkup in 6 months.

Thanks for any experiences you can give me with PHN dead teeth.
