I started taking tamsulosin around 3 years ago for prostate issues. I felt really dizzy for the first couple of weeks then it settled. I still, however, get dizzy if I stand up too quickly or if I am a bit dehydrated.

There’s a load of side effects, I’ve been taking it for several years and now have breasts and find it really hard to loose weight.

Hi Upser615, I was on Tamsulosin and Finasteride for an enlarged Prostate for 13 years until I underwent a Prostate operation (Rezumé) this Spring, after which I stopped using both. I pursued that treatment after a small lump alongside my left nipple, diagnosed by my consultant as Gynocomastia, a non-malignant fat-like tumour which might have been caused by one of those drugs (sorry, I can’t remember which). Whilst not a worry, it did encourage me to look for a better Prostate treatment, for which I am now very thankful. Powerful drugs can solve many problems but they may have worrying side effects. I am so glad I used my GP and hospital consultant to explore my Prostate issues and switch to an alternative treatment with many positive benefits.

I therefore strongly recommend everyone keeping in close touch with one’s GP when experiencing problems that might be side effects of other drugs, because they have such great knowledge and experience and where a solution is beyond them - “They know a man who does” as the saying goes!!!
