I've been diagnosed with post vasectomy pain syndrome 6 months on from my vasectomy surgery. The consultant believes that my Vas Deferens is swollen and under pressure as the sperm being produced now have nowhere to go and do not get absorbed into the body quick enough, causing back pressure and hence the pain and tenderness. I know they do an open ended procedure in the USA to avoid this but mine was on the NHS, and yes I was miss-sold on the latest stats, timescales and likelihood of pain, but these are other stories.
I have been told that if pain after vasectomy is going to disappear on its own, it can take up to a year after the procedure for this to happen. My NHS consultant wants to see me again in 4 months to see if there is any difference.
My question is; what would change on its own in order for the pain to subside. My understanding is that sperm production would not stop or reduce because of this, so would the Vas Deferens expand permanently in order to hold store a larger volume, allowing it to be absorbed slowly without putting the Vas Deferens under pressure?
I'm struggling to comprehend what physical change I can expect to occur on its own during the next 6 months, that could lead to a reduction in pain.
