So I am 18 now preparing for my circumcision and I have been made the offer to have Surgical glue over the wound which is more expensive that stitches. Is glue better?

I had stitches and honestly everything was fine! I’m not going to say I know anything about glue, but just wanted to say that the stitch option is great too, so I wouldn’t worry about it! If money isn’t an issue tho and they say that glue is better then definitely go for it, but if you’re tight for money then the stitch option is great anyway!

Technically yes but glue is new to surgery. Stitches can create and

do create scar tissues. Anyway ONLY a doctor can really answer

your query.

I had my circumcision done 13 days ago I wasn’t offered to have glue, 6 days after having it done I popped 2 stitches through the skin on top of penis it only bleed a little but defo going to have scars on top . I would have had glue if I was offered it .

go for the glue mate, much better than popping stitches and all that.

Curious why you’re planning to be circumcised?

To answer your question, the glue would prevent ugly track marks all around the cut line.

Hey again Brandon. If you search on the different posts on Adult circumcision in this forum you will find one guy who posted pictures and shared his experience about using glue for his circumcision...

The only thing I remember taking from his experience was that it had a lot of swelling and it took longer to ease and go down and the reason for this was that he did not have stitches so the skin could not swell in between the stitches so when using stitches it was not as prominent but if you apply ice and if it is better to use glue you should. I am not certain my urologist will offer glue so we will see but I will definitely ask him...

Good inquiry!!

Thanks for this information, I will take this into account. I’ll talk to both my doctor and the person preforming the circumcision to gain their opinions and more general information. I am getting mine done privately so there’s plenty of time for this.

Also what circumcision style are you wanting since there’s multiple?

Please share these pieces of info you will get from your doctor and/or surgeon because that is very relevant and interesting to me.

I will probably go for the high cut because it is not a good idea for the head of my penis to be covered by any kind of skin because I do not want my condition (balanitis and chronic redness) to come back so I will see what the urologist says but it is probably going to be a high cut and I will ask about not doing stitches but glue but I am not sure that he does that technique or not but I will keep you updated if you want, my appointment is coming up so I am stressed out about it but I guess I am also trying to be excited to finally deal with this and knowing that in a couple of months time it will be over and I hope to be in a better place and happy about the whole thing...

And I wish the same to you obviously!!

in reply toToonBlastChampion

I will update you with the information my doctor has given me tomorrow.

Are you having a general or local Anasthetic?

Maybe you don’t know this yet but I wouldn’t stress too much if you go ahead with it as it will be for the best.

This world isn’t perfect and therefore can’t expect everyone to agree with your decisions!

Yeah man true that! Lol. I am getting it done under local anesthesia but apparently for people like me (who freak out and get stressed easily) they offer mild sedation too so it is just a pill or two to calm you and apparently I read stories that some people fall asleep well doze off even though they are awake since it is not the general anesthesia so that is not too bad I may ask for mild sedation like the one you get at the dentist... haha

in reply toToonBlastChampion

Hahaha I’m worried too but all I think about is how happy I’ll be with my decision once it’s over and done with. YOLO😂

in reply toToonBlastChampion

I hope it works for you but circumcision is not guaranteed to stop balanitis. A lot depends on why you are getting it.

in reply to

That isn’t a concern for me but thanks for your response.

Balanitis has different causes: fungal, bacterial, viral, harsh soap and detergent (too much or too little hygiene) etc But it has also another cause which is bxo (penile lichen sclerosus) which is a chronic inflammation of the glans penis and foreskin so it has nothing to do with having to worry about a guarantee that it will stop balanitis as it will for me as soins as the moist environment is no more... thanks for the reply anyway

in reply toToonBlastChampion

I hope that it works for you but saw tgis from the British Association of Dermatologists:

“Although circumcision can cure lichen sclerosus in some men, in others the condition may continue or change after surgery. Lichen sclerosus will not go away on its own but may not cause any symptoms when the correct treatments are used.”

Thanks for this finding. I do not really have a whole lot of other options so I really hope that it helps me. I tried corticoid ointments but they have really bad side effects on the skin and it helped a little bit but the condition came back. I then used immunosuppressant like tacrolimus but it did not do much besides taking some of the redness away but it quickly came back so that’s why after my dermatologist appointment I decided to go see somebody else and try an urologist and I am pretty sure he will offer circumcision with frenuloplasty. It is what it is... don’t want to go through the whole adult circoncision recovery and all but I just remember and tell myself you didn’t really have a choice so it kinda helps to deal with the whole situation...

I had balantiits which they fort it was it turns out it was penile cancer and since getting circumsised it’s completely excised so I’m happy I got mine done 4 months ago, I’d go a head with the circumsion mate honestly, to stop all your problems I was getting fungal infections which weren’t disappearing with creams tablets etc, I had phimosis too, and now I’m all free due to getting circumsised 👍

And I had general anestetic coming from someone who stresses out a lot and worries 24/7 i would get general literally you walk into the operating room, they put canulr in then the anestetic and literally your asleep then back awake again and it’s all done and dusted

Thanks mate. I am also ready to get rid of my problems down there. My surgery date is on Thursday this week so I will post after the surgery and tell how it went... Hopefully good and I know I probably will go through the same phase as you where you went on here at some point saying you regretted the surgery lol!! Thanks for your reply I really appreciate it, scary road to travel alone...

Also was your pee hole always red because of balanitis? I am hoping that this will also clear when I get cut because it used to be so painful there and I would even get some blisters that you be burning each time I had to pee... :-(

Chris3108 profile image
Chris3108 in reply toToonBlastChampion

Tbh my pee hole keeps going dry and peeling but I think that’s all because of being circumcised it’s not sore tho tbh

ToonBlastChampion profile image
ToonBlastChampion in reply toChris3108

Ok so it looks like getting cut might help with blisters and sores so that’s good news.

Glue seems like a good option. Not sure why it’s more expensive...

in reply toElJodoncito

Appatently it leads to better cosmetic results and lessons the chance of stitch marks which would be a good reason for them to persuade you to pay more for it.

Hi , I had the glue , 3 months ago. i am 58 years old , there is no scar line, there was no bleeding after the first day . the complete healing process take a while , but after a month I was cleared . it was a full circumcision, Have a chat with your doctor and follow the post op advise.

in reply to

Thanks for the reply this was very helpful.

So you were basically healed within the first month?

After a month i was cleared to resume sex , but the penis head was still very sensitive but no pain , did not have to take any pain meds. its ok now after 3 months . but the key is to not have sex or masturbate until cleared by your surgeon .

in reply to

Did you have local or general anaesthetic? If you had local what was it like?

general anaestetic, sleeply , you done feel anything but you can hear the doc and nurse talking..

If you have the option for skin glue, it worth it.

From personal experience the end result is so much neater.

Where are you going for your operation?

I think it really depends on the surgeon and his conception. I'm in the US and you have to have insurance for coverage and once you have it, it does not matter how much it cost since you ain't paying for it and they are billing the insurance but what I can say is that many say you get a better cosmetic result but my surgeon has performed 800 circumcisions and is often called on plastic surgery cases because he always gets really good outcomes and he told me glue is not the way to go and he does not use it at all... so I am not too sure what that implies...
