Foreskin attached high up head of penis, very scared

I am 22 years old and found out / realised about 2 weeks ago I have Phimosis (I had never tried retract my foreskin), and have been slowly stretching my foreskin over the head of my penis. The issue is that as I progressed I have found a small 'chunk' of flesh is attached towards the 'tip of the head' of my penis to my foreskin and thus I seemingly cannot pull back my foreskin anymore.

Sorry but this is can only really be properly explain through a picture (NSFW!):

imgur.com/a/awyCW

You can see towards the bottom left of the picture is the slit at the tip of my penis, and towards the top right is me trying to pull my foreskin back and a little chunk of flesh that connects from my foreskin to my penis.

Is this normal? I'm scared to pull back more and put any pressure on it. It's almost as if my foreskin fused with my penis. What could have caused this? What is wrong with my penis.

I know I should see a doctor but naturally I am very shy about this issue and am hoping someone can help me out.

Hello,

Slowly stretching your foreskin is a good thing, but it needs to be done properly as it can cause damage! Looking at that picture, you do really need to see a doctor about that as you may very likely need to be circumcised. I suffered with phimosis since starting puberty, I was able to retract my foreskin when flaccid and I managed to get the foreskin halfway down when erect but with great pain. Is this causing you any pain at all when you retract your foreskin?

Being 22, no it's not normal, it should have detached itself around 10-13 years old. If it is causing you pain do not force anything as it may cause something to break and bleed. It may be that you have never retracted your foreskin but it could be anything.

As for seeing a doctor, it took me until the age of 19 to see someone about my phimosis, I was VERY shy about it as to me I thought it wasn't normal so I should keep it to myself. When you do see a doctor, take someone with you, a close friend, partner, someone you are open to about this as it helps relax you, a doctor will not judge you on this, that is not what they are there for, they have seen it all before 3 times over. I'm now 21 and I was circumcised around 11 months ago, and personally, I found it was the best decision I have ever made.

I hope this helps,

Good Luck,

Daniel.

Hi bro... Did the process hurt ... ?

Idannb profile image
Idannb in reply to trilsplay

Helloo, the process wasn’t comfortable, being the sensitive area as it is. But after the initial 10 days or so when the stitches start to dissolve and the scar starts to form the pain goes pretty much then it’s just waiting for it to fully heal.

Is it ok if i have the same thing at 14?

Idannb profile image

Circumcision can take place at any age

I have the same thing and I'm 14 to with only a small strand attaching to my slit. I heard that it overtime because in going through puberty should I worry about this or just wait

Sammyboy12 profile image

Hey i would wait a bit as I’m 13 and I kept stretching when erect and then holding until flaccid I did this daily for a week and eventually detached and I tell you what it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me!

Thank you very much, I will try because I have the same problem, I’m 14 and if it works for someone a year younger I’m sure I’ll be fine, may I ask how long did you hold it there for after pulling?

Hi i.m also facing similar problem. I m also shy and i am 17. I keep on thinking that will it affect my sex life if i dont seek a doctor can anyone tell please.

Ryanr profile image
Ryanr in reply to Taranq

It’s probably best to seek medical advice from a urologist I’m pretty sure they can perform an operation to separate the skin from your glans without a circumcision but at the very worst you would need to be circumcised.

Kevin27 profile image
Kevin27 in reply to Ryanr

Its actually not worst to be circumcised . Its really nice have that , and that will be the decision that you can make in your life . How bout you , are you not circumcised yet?

Shit... I've got anxiety so telling this to a doctor is gonna be hard should it of definitely detached now that I'm 15... Could I wait this year and see if it has or should I get a circumcision right now as fast as I can

timmyboy20 profile image
timmyboy20 in reply to Wolffff

I had it too. I tried everything to solve this problem: stretching, cortisone creme, etc. It didn't help much. A few years ago at 17 I finally got circumcised. For me it was the best solution and I am very happy I did it. You can first try the other things if you want to. But you better discuss this with your doctor.

Wolffff profile image
Wolffff in reply to timmyboy20

Thank you everyone is slowly making me feel like like I should get circumcised which I might try to get done but the head of my penis is extremely sensitive because I've never pulled the skin back past the head so is circusism really a good idea when it's so sensitive

timmyboy20 profile image
timmyboy20 in reply to Wolffff

Don't let people push you. It's what you want that matters. But if you choose for getting circumcised, you gonna have to deal with that hypersensitivity during a few weeks. But it's only temporarily. After it's subsided, the feeling will be great. I like that feeling of always having a bare glans.

In 14 and I have a small strand of skin attached to the slit . I heard off other comments that saying in going through puberty it detaches.should I worry about this or just wait

timmyboy20 profile image
timmyboy20 in reply to Jimmy012

That small string of skin attached to the slit is most likely the frenulum. It attaches the foreskin to the head of the penis. Sometimes this frenulum can be too tight or too short. Can you pull your foreskin all way behind the head of your penis?

Mje123 profile image
Mje123 in reply to timmyboy20

Hello I am also 14 and I seem to have small pieces of skin attached to the bottom of my tip restricting the amount of foreskin I can retract. This doesn't seem to matter until erect. It's very painful to retract and seems as if the skin attached is going to snap! Please could you tell me what to do? (I am not circumsised)

timmyboy20 profile image
timmyboy20 in reply to Mje123

If only your frenulum is too tight or too short, the urologist can cut it through. It's a very common and small operation.

I had the same thing I new my foreskin should retract fully but it did not.i then started pulling and stretching it back and it set free .there is now a vein like kind of scar from where the skin detached . I am happy that it can retract now but would recommend not to try this, see a doctor first or more importantly tell one of your parents most likely dad

Kevin27 profile image
Kevin27 in reply to Mje123

you can just have that detached to the head . Thats fine . once all of the skin has been detached to the head , you will have a great feeling when you masturbate :)

Hello i know its kinda late but i hope u can help me.im 16 and im having same issue...i CAN pull my foreskin all the way down but since i have that thingy attached to my tip it starts hurting (and the thing conecting my tip and foreskin loses blood stream and gets normal skin color).it doesnt hurt me if i "oil" up my penis only

timmyboy20 profile image
timmyboy20 in reply to WasabiSoda

That thing attached to the head of your penis is called the frenulum. Every uncircumcised male has it. It attaches the foreskin to the head. With lots of men this frenulum is too short and gets hurting whenever they pull back their foreskin as in your case. There is a simple solution for it. Go to your GP and explain the situation. Don't be shy or ashamed he has seen this a thousand times! Most likely he'll send you to an urologist who will cut through the frenulum. It's a small operation (under local anesthesia) that will solve your problem once and for all.

I am pretty sure I have this same issue. Is it 100% necessary to get a circumcision. Or is there a way I can stretch it myself?

Hi mate, first off let me say I know exactly what you are going through. I knew from a young age that my foreskin should retract but it never did, it took me a lot of soul searching to address this as I was very scared just like you. Secondly please do not worry unnecessarily, I know this is easy to say but trust me I have been exactly where you are.

In terms of the skin you can see attaching your foreskin to your glans this is called your frenulum, it's a thin and of very sensitive skin tissue that will pull your foreskin forward again. It seems that yours may be short (same as mine) and this may be causing pain when trying to retract it. My advice, and I can't emphasise this enough, is to visit a doctor and get checked out as they know best. Please don't be shy, we've all felt it before but a penis is ten a penny to a doctor and they see this type of thing all the time.

I can also reassure you that I was able to achieve full foreskin retraction after about 18 months of daily (gentle) stretching in the bath for an hour or so at a time. It took me a long time as I had to manually separate my foreskin from my glans as this never happened naturally. I would be happy to chat to you further if you would like....? Just get in touch on here and I will do my best to put your mind at ease. Please do not worry :)

The foreskin should be able to retract fully after around age 14. If not, I would suggest seeing a urologist. I was finally circumcised at age 33. I wish I had done it much sooner! Don’t be afraid to talk to your doctor honestly. Although this may be your first conversation about foreskin, I assure you it is not your doctor’s.

hey man im 18 and i just searched fr my problem and saw this site. thought i was the only one and was scared to goto a doctor but after reading these comments, i think i will see a doctor asap. im always scared of circumcision and i like having foreskin so is circumcision the only solution.? also my penis head is very sensitive and i hardly ever touch it, so having a circumcision will it hurt my penis and how is the pain mild or severe. also will masturbating be same or will it hurt?

Lalalalahan profile image
Lalalalahan in reply to redbolt

It depends, if u have that big of a chunk as seen on that picture, i think it will be your only option, but if its small and thin just like under your tongue i would first try exercises and if that doesnt help after some time there is also a small surgery (i forgot what its called) where the doctor just cuts the stripe in two and sew the flaps into place

Lalalalahan profile image

A frenulum IS normal, but that is called a short frenulum which affects the amount of how far u can retract your foreskin

I had this problem until I was 20, when I lost my virginity. At first my foreskin used to inflate during intercourse, which was painful as it strangled my penis and I found it hard to lose my erection! It soon ripped and healed on its own.
