Healing time depends on how you were opened up. Usually that operation today entails two or three tiny slits which are covered with steri-strips and without stitches.
They had me on paracetamol and ibuprofen for the first week after surgery, then I took paracetamol for the second week as I was still a bit unconfortable around my stomach and the operation site. I still have a small pain in my left side, which is what alerted me to a problem initially, but the doctor says it should go. Three weeks after surgery my stomach is still a little swollen, but I'm basically back to normal - walking 10,000 steps per day, gentle stretching and exercising, eating normally, back to golf next Monday. I'll let my wife do the driving for a bit longer!
I think I must have been very fortunate and had a terrific surgeon. I was given some codeine to take home with me but didn’t open the box. I had 2 paracetamol evening of the surgery as a precaution and didn’t need anything else after. My scars have healed very well. I have one just under my belly button which took a little longer no discomfort.
Overall it was so easy it’s hard to believe now the excruciating pain I was in prior to the operation.
