I had a vasectomy on 14/09/18 done by scalpel. My entire sctroum and shaft has bruising, the pain has increased as the days have gone by, especially on one side there is a sharp ache like that area is trapped under something tight. don't know anyone who has had a vasectomy so just wondering if this is normal?
Yes it can cause pain as your body adjusts. Many - most men even - feel absolutely nothing and can’t understand any issues. But some - usually quoted at around 10% - do experience pain afterwards as a result. It will in most cases lessen over time. Allow 6-8 weeks from my experience. Some go on to have longer term issues - known as PVP (post vasectomy pain). I had ongoing issues for up to a year as the body adjusted to reabsorb the sperm produced. There’s no need to panic or see A&E just yet! Keep your tackle from moving about - tight undies are best. Even a size to small. It should get better over time. Mine did, but it was a worry for months. I’ve been there and understand your concerns. Any other questions, ask and I’ll help if I can.

Thank you for your reply. I have read about PVP which is a concern but I know its still early days yet. was just a little worried as felt fine the first 3 days and it has definitely gotten worse on my right hand side going into my groin. there is more swelling on that side and its hot to touch but as pain is relived when I sit or lie down I don't think its infected. what ongoing issues did you have?
I had a vasectomy 50 years ago was in morning and flow plane 6 hours that afternoon siting on ice bag. my incision was only about 3/8 s to 1/2 inch long. never missed a day of work. had a semen count two weeks later and everything was . fine no bruising or pain minor swelling is all.
