Showering after circumcision

I think I got a really loose circ, I can’t even see the stitches.

Should I pull the shaft skin (gently) when I shower in order to expose the sutures to water?

Thank you!

Ps: I’m on day 2 post op

You don't want to get the wound wet for the first 24/48 hours post OP. Even after that, just do a quick rinse of the incision part but don't keep it under a constant stream of water too long. You don't want to get the stitches wet and make them break prematurely. So don't shower first 2 days post OP (though I know in this heat it might be terrible). If you absolutely must, rinse it for a couple of seconds but don't get it too wet. You can try pulling the skin back a little, though you might want to let it "be" for a few days. Then after a 4-5 days you might try to slowly pull it back but don't force it, as the wound can still be closing up. Your stitches should have done most of the work around day 10 so then you should be able to try to pull it back more to expose the incision part if you wish. Everyone heals differently, some faster, some slower, so if it causes pain or discomfort stop.

That’s the problem! I can’t get the stitches wet even if I wanted to bc there’s skin covering them hahaha.

Thank you! I will try pulling the skin in a few days, hope everything works out 🤟

Where you able to see the stitches or pull them out?

Yes! I had an appointment with my doc and he said that I should just do it! I expose the stitches every time I shower now

Do it after a week or so. Not that fast. The wound is still fresh and it may get infected.

My doc says I can shower, but he gave me this condomn type things to put over it so it doesn’t get wet. For the first 2 weeks at least

Thanks for asking this!! Its exactly what i needed to know. My stiches are covered up too. The Doc seems to have left some skin enough for the stitches to get covered by skin so i have to pull it in order to apply ointment or let water hit it. That part is still freaking me out. Im on days 2. About to shower now and not let the water hit my penis till im ready to rinse it. How did you pat dry the stitches considering you cant see them?
