high vs low Circumcision,
Don't believe everything you read on here! Suggest sometimes reading the opinions here are more riskier than the op itself... If you can, discuss your worries with the consultant. Be prepared for the discomfort as you heal and make sure you tell them about the style you want. Healing takes time and 12 months before it settles down.
I got a low circumcision and it has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Wish I did it sooner.
I am due to have full circumcision 22/6 and I believe success is down to who performs the op, example if you are in the UK under the NHS you could meet the Urologist but they give the op to an inexperienced surgeon.
I would research private clinics and read reviews on circumcision performed by actual doctor, UK cost under local anesthetic £650, general anesthetic £1500- £2100.
Do not just let anyone perform it.
Hi i am 51 , I had my circumcision nearly 3 weeks ago under general woke up in recovery
room did not feel a thing trust me . my foreskin was so tight . one day it would not pull back over it just swole up like a blister . i went to A and E after a few days as it was getting worse especially at night ,even with morphine o m g .doctor said
she thought i should have it done then . I don,t regret it yet! i have not needed any pain relief for just over week
thanks
Hi it was not the first time the swelling happened , so i saw consultants and doctors i read other posts with people trying creams ,lotions and stretching all the ones i read failed the thought of swelling again prompted my decision to go ahead with circumcision. This was my first day back to work after 3 weeks off so light duties only
i am sure stitches will come out when they are ready
Have you ever had phimosis
I was circumcised 9 weeks ago, so first hand experience.
Be careful what you read online, many people like to input into the circumcison debate without actually having it done, or ever meeting someone who NEEDED it done.
I suffered from phimosis which in turn caused recurring balanitis, which is why I needed it done. I had tried steroid creams, stretching etc and these didn't fix the phimosis, so I kept getting balanitis.
If you have it done, be prepared for the recovery! My operation didn't go great, I ended up going back into theatre with a local anesthetic because a few stitches broke straight away, I think I put my hand down to rearrange my package as I was coming round from the general anesthetic and wasn't being watched properly, but unsure as I can't remember much.
The pain was quite bad for first 2 weeks, and the glans very sensitive for 5/6 weeks, but they had never been exposed apart from during sex for my whole life so that was too be expected! 9 weeks after and I'm fully back to normal. Sensitivity is at normal levels and I have no regrets. Best decision I ever made, as I didn't realise how my tight foreskin was really affecting my life, but now it's been done I'm much more comfortable during sex and I'm finally able to clean 100%.
Take advice from doctors, try other options first and if they don't work then circumcision may be the way to go.
Good luck!
Thanks .. after a year of of steroid creams , the family is send me to a urologist next week..
Did you have a choice of style, , high vs low
I personally had a high cut because low was not an option, and this was the opinion of 2 NHS urologists and a private one also. I tried steroid cream for 3 months and stretching for quite a while, but nothing really worked
Circumcison should always be a last resort, speak to your urologist and get their opinion.
i just went with the consultants experience he did fill me with confidence at first assessment there was option but a recommendation followed
Go for a High cut, it looks better and feels better too.
It was not the first time it happened , it was discussed with the doctor then specialist
i was informed that going forward it would happen more often and get worse , reading other peoples comments /experiences what they have tried to do following their medical advise , After all their efforts failing , i decided to go ahead with the circumcision
Hi There is little risk part from anaesthetic (if GA) and post-op infection. I am a bit surprised that it has taken 58 years to work out you have a tight foreskin!
i was perfectly normal never had any health issues , until this started last April.. not sure the reason..
Thank you ,but you are right not to just go to extreme measures straight away ,
there are some sad stories out there too when things go wrong .
