Redness/Irritation around rectum

Hey everyone, I'm looking for the solution to a problem I've been experiencing lately.

About 3 weeks ago I had protected sex (with a little bit of unprotected contact during foreplay) and unprotected oral sex with a new partner. The next day I developed a very bad cough and I had diarrhea 2 or 3 times. The following day, the area around my rectum (between the rectum and scrotum) and the inside of the cheeks in that area became very red and irritated. As such I had convinced myself that I had contracted an STD so I went to a walk-in clinic and the doctor took a quick look and told me that this was normal irritation from wiping and that it didn't look like anything STD related (I asked specifically about herpes). Being the hypochondriac that I am I also went to an STD clinic and the nurse there also said that it didn't look STD related.

3 weeks have passed since then and while the cough slowly went away, the rash did not. It seemed to lessen sometimes but then it would become re-inflamed a day later. As far as I can tell, there are no bumps or lesions on the rash, it's just red and inflamed however it is difficult to examine myself. It is entirely in the area where toilet paper would make contact. It isn't itchy or really painful, but I can tell that it is irritated while sitting and walking. It also hasn't changed visually since I first observed it weeks ago.

My question is what do you think the cause may be? My best guess is that I irritated it from the diarrhea that day and it has failed to fully heal and as such keeps getting re-irritated. However, due to the length of time I've had it I've begun to worry that maybe something sexually transmitted has begun to develop and this wasn't apparent when I first went to the doctor due to how early it was? Also if it is simply irritation from wiping is there anything I can do to treat it?

I'm planning on seeing a doctor about it as soon as I can, but that won't be for a few days.

Thanks for reading.

I would say trust the Health Professionals as regard to infection. To reduce the irritation use toilet wipes for a while, similar to wet wipes but are flushable. Also as Goldie says try Canestan or an Aqueous cream.

Tip of the day, Always use Protection unless 100% certain.

Try to act, before it gets serious.See an experienced doctor and try to convince him that it is not ok.In the meantime, use water shower, avoid using toilet paper as it may bruise the affected area and also use a cream(boroline or Lacto Calamine recommend).
