So for a few years I've known that I have phimosis, my foreskin can't retract below the head or anywhere near it. I know it's phimosis and really want to get it sorted, but I'm nervous of going to the doctor's in case I get an erection and it just feels awkward.
Also will I need to tell my parents if I'm going to have to go the doctor's for this? I really want it sorted but don't have the courage.
Any tips?

Hi. Don’t worry I have seen a doctor for my parts before and I always request to see a man so I am more comfortable than a woman doctor as we understand each other. If it happens it is nature and sure they have seen it all before. But you will be nervous so don’t worry about it. Your health comes before any embarrassment of your personal worry. When it comes to your parents. They may actually be proud that you are taking care of your parts like it and will see you as a grown up man taking responsibilities. Never easy if you are a closed family but it can also open new doors. Good luck and stay strong.
You don't need to be embarrassed. Doctors have seen hundreds of penises with that issue so you are not the first and you won't be the last. It is unlikely to get an erection as you said yourself you are nervous and even if you aren't nervous its unlikely but when it does happen they are doctors ... they have seen and experienced all kinds of thinks out of which a random erection is no worry at all.
You don't have to tell your parents as you are 18 and make the decision for yourself however, if you live with them, or go to school you will have to let them know as you will want to spend the first days after circumcision at home resting. I know it can be a touchy subject but both the doctors and parents are there to help you, so nothing to be embarrassed about. If anything they would feel bad if you felt you couldn't tell them.
Good luck!
Hi!
No, you're not legally obliged to tell your parents, but it would be good and sensible to do so.
The first two replies are excellent, and all I would venture to say is to emphasise the point that doctors are there to help you. The penis is just one organ of the body, and they will treat it as such. Try not to be embarrassed, although as you are a young man, I understand why you may well be. I've had cameras down mine; cameras up my bottom and believe me, in the grand scheme of our lives it really is no big deal. You can show your maturity - and your courage - by making an appointment and getting yourself sorted out.
Go see doctor asap. I left it 13 years and wasn't aware my phimosis was caused by a condition called BXO which isn't really curable but circumcision obviously just gets rid of it. You won't get a hard on when you're in there that is all nerves, jts normal to feel that way but even if you did, big deal the doctor isn't going to drop dead, they're professionals. I can't stress enough for you to go and get seen to, you'll regret it in years to come when you've left it.
Hi, I got circumcised a little over 2 weeks ago and the first days are pretty bad but now it's getting a lot better. (I got cut because phimosis)
Some guy above said that you can stretch but that does not work for everyone. If you go to the doctor depending on what he/she thinks you could need to get cut like me or they could prescribe a steroid cream. (I think its called that but English is my second language)
I spent A long time just stretching at home because I really didn't want to go see a doctor but for me stretching did absolutely nothing.
I suggest you go get it looked at because it can lead to some pretty serious health issues in the future.
