Circumcision recovery - Week 5

Wow so it’s 5 weeks to the day since the surgery was done - has it gone quick? Yes…Has it felt like forever getting to this stage? Also yes! Just as reminder to anyone new I was circumcised on the NHS due to phimosis when erect only before.

So how has this last week been? It’s deffo better down there than weeks ago, and mentally I’m slowly adjusting to it, I’m no longer scared as much as was and panic attacks going down and very far and between now regarding. In the last update I mentioned it not looking clean etc, I spoke to my GP last Monday and went in person to see him on Friday and was prescribed some cream to help clean up the ‘mucky stuff’ in his words. It wasn’t infected thank god but the cream should just help me out which is good over next few weeks. He reassured me was on right path tho and reminded still a good few weeks until feel properly good about this and a lot of the swelling etc down there will be significantly reduced.

So not a lot more to say really this week…am I gagging for sexual stuff again? If truth be told yes. But I don’t wanna set back any recovery so may hold off until week 8 just to allow things down there to be the best they can be. If ive lasted 5 weeks already, I can do another 3 (he says famous last words). Plus at the moment I still am not sure can even get that full erection yet without that little discomfort. Part of me thinks still a little swelling so makes it tight but then also part of it is psychological so as soon as get semi I try stop it rather than seeing if can - just expecting pain so don’t wanna try. Not sure if anyone else experienced similar?

So will leave it there, as not much else to say. Hopefully another week of healing and progress will really be able to be seen and well get closer and closer to feeling more normal and this becoming a memory. Message me in replies or privately if wanna speak or ask questions etc any point! Thanks!

5 weeks, mate! Sounds like you're healing well and did the right thing by going to a doc and getting some reassurance. I think sometimes guys having this operation feel like they might be wasting a doc's time looking for reassurance, but I say do it - reassurance is vital, it's why forums like this exist, for example. You got this.

Absolutely, couldnt agree more! The reassurance deffo helped me, of course hasn't taken away all my nerves or made me heal, still a long road to go, but has put me in a better place mentally for sure.

I'm glad to hear lol Im on day 7 and have had panic attacks and all sorts due to the healing and sensitivity and thinking will I ever be normal again-- glad I read this

No worries mate, its deffo easing for me, 6 weeks on Monday. Its a long old slog and mental battle to get even to this stage, just try stay positive as best as you can!

Thanks man, how did you sleep? At the moment I'm literally just putting a pad underneath the penis to stick to and then not wearing underwear and just sleeping on my back and letting it all air out... A blanket or underwear would definitely be too sensitive on it. Any tips?

I wore boxers tbh and seems ok for me, of course wake up to erections but I would say less and less as weeks go on. First was pain from the stitches pulling and now its more discomfort around the slight tightness of swelling still and the head brushing the pants but if pants werent on it would touch duvet so not much different. If honest don't think anyone in the early weeks gets a great nights sleep, i think a lot is just having to get used to it and persevere tbh
