Circumcision - Fleshy & Red around the right side

Hello - just looking for some advice. I am now 4 weeks post operation for my circumcision. I received a high and tight cut, so my cut was just under the head of the penis. I've noticed, when I'm erect or when I pull the skin back a bit, that there is a red fleshiness from where the incision would have been, it doesn't even look like it's healing. Everywhere else looks like it's healing nicely.

Is this normal after this amount of time? I'm wondering if because the swelling has covered the stitches for so long, that it's struggling to heal. Just looking for some re-assurance.

post-op swelling is a frequent issue and there are many forum posts about it. If you have particular concerns then please contact your surgeon or doctor.

If your circumcision cut is just behind the glans then that is a 'low' cut, not a 'high' one.

Low cuts give the least swelling as all of the vulnerable inner mucosa is removed.

If some of your inner mucosa was retained then that will appear much redder than the rest of the foreskin and shaft skin.

You are only 4 weeks in. Full healing takes at least 8 weeks, often more. It can also depend on why you were circumcised (a medical need may not only dictate where the cut must be but also how long it is likely to take to fully heal.

This is actually really helpful, you were right about me saying the wrong cut. Thanks for the re-assurance. I'm just concerned because everywhere else is healed and this part just looks still freshly cut.

Hey bro, 4 weeks is still very early days and I'd be waiting until 8-12 weeks to judge how things are looking. Best advice I got on here was try not to stare it, try not to fiddle with it.

Thanks, I've been reading your updates actually so nice to see you comment. I'm only really concerned due to the fact that this particular part hasn't healed yet and the wound looks very fresh, not sure if it's normal but I'll assume it is :)

I've definitely not tried to play with it, but I'll be honest, this is the hardest part of this whole thing lol

Thanks for the words!

Hey bro, no worries. I'm glad the updates have been read. :)

Completely understand where you're coming from and how easy it is to be worried about the healing process. The healing process is the worst bit of the circumcision operation. It's a long road, but you're already at 4 weeks, which I bet had come round a lot quicker than you thought it would.

If you're really concerned, always reach out to your doc who did the op, or local doc if you can't. You got this.

Tom.
