I've posted a few times over the last two years about circumcision. It's happening next week and I want all feedback on how to look after it. How to clean it. Wrap it. Clothes etc.
Its being done by a private clinic but paid for by the NHS. It's being outsourced essentially.
It will be a traditional circumcision.
Please don't comment - horror stories or style advice. This isn't helpful. But all advice regarding looking after myself will be so deeply appreciated.
I am reading a eulogy at my best friends funeral 7 days later. I'll be wearing baggy trousers at all times bar this funeral- were I'll suffer formal trousers. So advice on how to wrap the member up to cope with this is also appreciated.
Thank you

I just wanted to say good luck and I’m sure you’ll be fine. From experience with my son no clothes were best in the house for a few weeks and even though he was advised to wear tight pants he preferred none for a while. Good luck it will all go well and you will be fine, sending love ❤️
Best of luck with the op. Everyone recovers differently and sensitivity levels differ. I found wearing tight underwear helped massively. I was fine after the operation a bit uncomfortable that's all. You should have no problem after a week. You might be walking a bit funny as your stitches will still be in and you could be swollen. For me everything was left alone for 2 days then removed bandage and started salt water baths which helped massively. That would be my advice, keep it clean and have a salt bath if possible everyday for a week. It will help the wound. You will know yourself when you wear underwear or clothing to which you prefer afterwards. Some people like wearing nothing but I think that leads to more sensitivity issues when you finally have to put underwear on or wear trousers. Best of luck and I hope it goes well.
Hey bro, how long ago were you circumsiced? I was circumsiced 5 months ago but it still is not normal. A bit swollen, and scar a bit raised and hard. Does it get better and if yes in how much time
I was circumcised January 2021 and the surgeon didn't do a good job at all. So had a revision done 6 weeks ago and it's fine now already. Still have a small bit of raised scar but in comparison to the first time I got done. I was messed up for over a year
Don't worry it will be fine there will be a little discomfort but it will be gone i was also Circumcised recently and i was so scared but tbh it is not that scarry it was all just me being scared mentally due to which I lost weight anyway best of luck!!
Snug comfortable underwear will be useful. Get a dark color if you are getting one now. It helps hide any blood spit stains. And wounds do get blood spots through the bandage at times. So don’t get scared about it.
Trim/shave your pubic hair. It gets stuck in bandages. Also the hair can tickle and irritate the newly exposed glans.
Keep your penis upwards - against your torso and pointing to your belly button. It doesn’t stay there but try and move it to that position as often as you can. That’s where the snug underwear helps. A boxer brief works nicely.
Keep the scar and penile shaft wrapped. Ask the doctor to give you a compression self adhesive bandage wrap - something like the 3M Coban. This wrap over the bandage will keep the penile shaft more stiff which will help with mitigating any unusual bends in the shaft which may cause discomfort or pain.
Cover the penis with plastic (cling wrap, or a loose condom, etc) to keep the scar wound and bandage. If it gets wet (making the scar wet) see if you can bandage or dry it with patting with a dry towel (even kitchen paper towels help) and a hair dryer.
At night you will get nocturnal erections which may cause pain or discomfort. Try to sleep in your side curled up to reduce the pain from the skin getting pulled during erections. And get up and pee - will help eliminate those erections.
If that doctor is using fine sutures (used for cosmetic surgery) then your doctor will call you back in to remove them in 10-11 days. Try and convince your doctor to see you in 9-10 days so he can remove even the traditional sutures. Those cause ugly suture scars on your skin and you would not like them nai best to try and avoid them by having the sutures removed. Some doctors also use a combination of fine sutures and skin glue for clean results. See if your doctor can do that.
Be very clear about how much you like removed. Nobody like a loose cut. People who are cut loose or get loose over a few years go back for revisions to get it tightened. So you should get it cut tight the first time and avoid repeat procedures.
Also be clear about your frenulum. If you want it removed make sure he has looked at your penis and has agreed to remove it. If frenulum is removed those sutures take the longest to heal but give good clean results.
I got it done last week , took a week of work ,zero pain bro , I took the pain killers the doc . Game me every six hours. Don’t watch any MA or Rated R movies . Because I can honestly tell you you will feel not pain but discomfort when you get a boner (get ready). I recommended getting 2 ice packs I kept one rite under my belly (for at least a week), not on the private. When that one melted I use the other one , just keep rotating them . When at home just don’t wear nothing and get rest . . And when you take your first shower , make sure you walk in backwards. You got this good luck ! And stop watching them circumcision videos on you tube because that definitely doesn’t help
Good luck with the op. Take a week off work if you can as you will probably be unable to wear any clothing below the waist for the first few days. Stock up on food, gauze and Vaseline. Vaseline was a life saver for me, I used it to make the transition to wearing underwear. I switched from loose boxers before the op to tight underpants, which I am still wearing 6 weeks later. All the best, I hope it goes well.
Hard to put into words. It's a fear of regret. I've a good sex life with lube and no big issues with a foreskin but this doesn't change the fact I do have phimosis. I've never had sex retracted. Oral and hand jobs are done with caution.
I can retract flaccid to wash but find it uncomfortable to urinate retracted. So sometimes end up a little wet.
I'm a bit of a peculiar case- phimosis but with a tight ring but too much skin- a erection don't quite fill it- hence the ability to have got by ok.
Lastly it's a bit ugly- wrinkly long skin and prepuse.
All things considered I think I'll be better off - hygiene- no worries about foreskin ripping. All perhaps desensitised a bit- sex with an exposed head. It will look better too hopefully
I’m just making same decision… consultant just recommended it today… avoided medical advice before as feared they’d say I needed circumcision… and today they have!
I think I’m OK with the decision… but like you - nervous about it!
Good to know - how was the 7 day post op eulogy? I'm worried about things like business meetings and conferences which I go to reasonably frequently... sitting in my home office and dealing with a bit of pain I can deal with - but driving for hours and delivering a talk or walking round a conference all day is looking a bit scary in the first few weeks from others comments.
Ok. Thank you. Sat around in the nude bottom half. Bandage off. Stiches ok.
Fairly loose cut and I still seemingly have a frenulum. But I look good. I feel ok. And think I'm happy. See the consultant who did it in 6 weeks to review
I’m so glad that you’re ok and that bit is over and done with! Here’s to the start of a whole new adventure 🙌
Although last night saw a couple of night erections and the stiches underneath see now visible and I have a small oval balloon of swelling on one side of the frenulum underneath.
Can I assume this is all normal is the healing process?
Hi Man try keeping it in a upright position to help with swelling. also when you take the bandage off I'd keep covering it with some non adhering dressing and gauze warped around it with some compression this will also help to reduce swelling.
Well it's good to let the air at it as well especially if you are just at home setting around taking it easy and it's fine. I'd be more comfortable to bandage it at night time it would help with erections the wound could be weeping as well. and when your going out it's just more comfortable with the sensitivity and to keep it clean when you are wearing clothes. If it is swelling then I'd also cover it with some light compression.
