Sex - Circumcision ( 5th Week)

Hi,

So Tuesday coming (3rd August) I will be on my 5th week of recovery following circumcision. How long is it best to wait until before having sex? NHS Website is telling me 4 Weeks and others are telling me 6. I have 1 stitch left, Fairly certain the wound has healed well, Didnt have any infection throughout it and i can now wear boxers without having to wrap a gauze around it. Just looking for advice as i dont want to do anything to quick and end up regretting or making things worse/longer for a full recovery.

I have never heard of 4 weeks post circumcision mentioned as safe to "go for it". Usually it is 6 weeks with the proviso that all is well. If you can put a condom on without pain or over sensitivity to the area, I would say as a layman, go for it. What does your doctor say?

The general advice is to wait 6 weeks. Certainly it would be unwise to have sex if you still have a suture remaining.

Hey, my experience was that I waited till 6 weeks and all stitches had dissolved. I did try wearing a condom the first time but didn’t find it too comfortable. A couple of thoughts, have you tried masturbating? That would give you an indication of how things are. And second be prepared for things to feel a bit different and “underwhelming “ I found it took a few times before it felt ‘normal’ again. All the best

Dude wait the full 6 weeks trust the process. Be patient & let it heal. Please don’t have sex until all stiches have been either dissolved or fallen. Waiting 6 weeks is for the best

I am at 10 weeks but I am still scared of sex. Have a feeling that the skin near the incision will tear when I have sex, even though I am completely healed, and masturbate often.

It's understandable to be hesitant when you can remember it being uncomfortable or painful shortly after surgery. If masturbating is ok you should be fine to have sex now. It would probably be helpful to see a good EFT NLP coach to resolve your concerns.

You should be fine. use plenty of lube and take it easy. Be prepared to stop if you do experience pain.

I can understand your frustration, and if it's not uncomfortable you are probably keen to get going. That said, having a stitch remaining could cause some injury or discomfort for you or your partner. And you wouldn't want to wait even longer because you had sex too soon.

Taking vitamin E can accelerate your healing and vitamins A, C and the mineral Zinc can help too.

I waited six weeks and wore a condom using plenty of lube. To be honest condom did not really help but gave a little confidence. Lube is the way to go.Wait til final stitch is gone, then try.

I'm at 6th week and I'm very afraid to have sex... it's still very sensitive and it seems that if I stretch the skin too much it will hurt.

I'm at the 3th week now and all the stitches are gone I no longer feel the pain..I dont know whether to have sex or not.

I strongly suggest 10 weeks post op . Just because each person's healing times are different . You don't wanna end up with some weird scar or skin problem for not being patient
