IS MY CIRCUMCISION HEALING OK? Day 11 - Advice please!

I was circumcised 7days ago, seemed like the surgeon did a neat job, however i do have daily bleeding which scabs from night erections or rubbing on clothing.

Ive also noticed the hole where you urinate is smaller than before the op and seems a little red, im not sure if this is normal 7days after due to swelling or if its a urinary infection like Meatal stenosis?

Advice please from those who have had circumcision?

You look to be healing well. At 7 days you definitely still have swelling. As I recall, it took me 3-4 weeks before I was able to pee without spraying everywhere.

thank u for saying that. Bcuz im 7 days out from my circ and i spray everywhere! Like regular stream, then 90° right then split stream, then regular then down then shower spray. I'm like wtf! I have to pee sitting down so I don't soak everything and was wondering is this gonna be for life or just from swelling or what.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it.

My first stitch has fallen out in my underwear i noticed it tonight at day 9 , is that normal? Or has it been torn out do you think?

I have updated the post above with a photo showing the current stage of healing and the missing stitch

in reply toCIRCMALEUK

It’s common for stitches come out after 7 days.

Are the stitches non dissolvable?

CIRCMALEUK profile image
CIRCMALEUK in reply to

I believe they are dissolvable. I only have to go back after 6weeks to see the surgeon for a check up and progress report i believe?

in reply toCIRCMALEUK

I found soaking the area in salt water for a few minutes 2/3 times a day helped with the stitch dissolving and sped up the healing.

Did they use skin glue on yours?

Hi Man, looks to be healing really well it's normal for the stitches to start coming out after a week my first stitch come out on day 5 I had them all out after 2 weeks you don't want stitch tunnels or marks left it will heal much faster when they come out to.

Your meatus is probably still a little swollen after the circ. although I think mine is probably a little smaller now than before.

Thanks for the replies everyone

I woke up this morning and had another stitch this time underneath had come out on end but stil in place the other.

I had a urine test today which showed no infection urine wise and asked my gp to have a look, he said it seems to be healing ok but a bit sore in areas still but didnt know much more..

** i have updated the photo above of the stitch that pulled this morning one end. Is this ok? Or did it rip out?

Yeah it looks ok little sore looking but that's to be expected. be careful keeping him clean is important some non adhering dressing and gauze dressing over that, if you are going out otherwise leave out in the air, and the salt water bat. Jimbo suggested I found them to be good.

CIRCMALEUK profile image
CIRCMALEUK in reply toMrMac99

My surgeon never told me to use gauze after the first fell off. Since day 3 its been open to the air as such. Getting the gauze to stick was the main issue and i had it also get stuck to my wound on day three and was a nightmare to get out without pulling stitches with it

I assume its normal for it to be uncovered all the time now. Im wearing tighter underwear to restrict it moving so much. Night time seems the worst for movement or pulling and erections

MrMac99 in reply toCIRCMALEUK

Yeah some surgeons never tell you about aftercare I was lucky I suppose mine phoned me the next day and the few days after to see how things were going he suggested I use some Melolin dressing this is a wound dressing that does not stick to your wound you don't want sticking, and use some gauze dressing over that. I changed it everyday to keep things clean. But If the wound is dry and not weeping you probably are ok to leave it uncovered.

until the wound is healed and the sensitivity has decreased I would wear tight underwear to stop it from moving around to much. how is your sensitivity? Now has it eased down.

The Night-Time is the worst if you pee before you go to bed and not drink too much before hand and sleep on your side with your knees up forward I used to keep it covered as well to stop it from getting caught in clothes.

But If you are healed enough there is no need to cover though.

CIRCMALEUK in reply toMrMac99

Sensitivity is not too bad now, if it rubs your clothing you can feel it for sure but its nowhere near as strange as the first few days, the stitches are the main issue to catch or rub

MrMac99 profile image
MrMac99 in reply toCIRCMALEUK

That's good Man your sensitivity is reducing can be quiet frustrating some guys get it worse than others especially if they had phimosis.

The stitches are very annoying they get caught in everything that was one reason why I used to cover it.

Your meatus is still swollen that's why it is hard to pee and you could even spray a bit.

CIRCMALEUK profile image
CIRCMALEUK in reply toMrMac99

Yeah i had phimosis hence why i had to had circ operation. Hopefully the swelling goes down

MrMac99 profile image
MrMac99 in reply toCIRCMALEUK

You're well on your way man the sensitivity can be a big issue specially after phimosis.

as soon as your stitches are gone you will find a big improvement

Hey mate, I have been circumcised since Monday. I have got a fair amount of park and sensitivity. I had to get the op because of moderate phimosis. How long did it take before the pain was ok to sit down/wear pants etc. thanks

Leave as is healing fine don't wrap him up leave as dry and airing as much as possible naked in bed if possible will allow no sweat to build over night less moisture the quicker loose shorts joggers and commando best no infection seen in photo just healing process

Thanks for the replies

Its healing well i think, most stitches still in place but two have fallen out. The main issue for me is at night i tend to roll onto my front as that's where i sleep and that caused bleeding and things or maybe making stitches lose.

I have notice that my eye hole where you pee and stuff is smaller now and feels like u need to use more pressure to start and at the end it drips. Will this go away ,is it due to swelling still at day 9?

Please see my UPDATED photo above. Part underneath doesnt seem to be healing as well , skin feels a bit lose there as if stitch came out too early and its sore and a bit gunky. Maybe caused by rubbing on underwear etc

Any tips?? Is it infected or ok??

MrMac99 profile image
MrMac99 in reply toCIRCMALEUK

It looks ok just healing I would keep it covered. if you are going out or in bed until it dries up a bit more. it doesn't look infected but if you are not sure have it checked.

Just as I said your fine do not not not cover it up it will cause you more issues trust me dry as much as possible and in the air to heal naked as much as you can is best trust me

Please see my updated photo of the bottom/side of my penis today day 11. The area previous has come together nicely it seems, my GP put me on some medication tablets to help the healing for a week and the bleeding seems to be scabbing over. The left side has healed very well but the right hs scabbed and as you can see some parts catch and come off in underwear.

Also notice i have peeling skin on my glans. Is this normal?

MrMac99 profile image
MrMac99

You are healing well I would still cover where the scab is until it dries more if you are at home leave it out in the air.

The peeling is normal for the glans. how is the sensitivity?

Nessbenjamin79@gmail.com. I live in the UK and I was circumcised two years ago best decision I ever made my foreskin was getting so tight I couldn't pee properly or when I had an erection it was so painfully tight I couldn't get the head out and keep myself clean which resulted in numourous water infections went to see doc sent to hosp straight away and the rest is history best decision ever made I was healed up within a month bit tender for a couple more and then we'll no more holding back as they say. I never lost any sensitivity quiet the opposite cause of my underwear and trousers rubbing on exposed head I was constantly getting aroused which sometimes wasn't always helpful. Though I must admit looking at yours I'd be a little bit worried mine never bled or scabbed like yours pop along to the docs even if only to put your mind at rest see what they say. Hope every turns out OK for you. My email if you want to talk any more. nessbenjamin79@gmail.com. (Wandering jogger) 😄🐈🐈👍

Hey guys hope everyone is well so it's currently Monday early morning and I had my op acouple Thursdays before so really I'm on day 10 now I feel everything has being going well no pain just a little discomfort anyways today I feel that the skin's coming away a little I cant see very well but I can see a little cut not sure if it's bigger than I think but it's stinging quite abit. Especially if it gets touched it is a little humid so will try sleep with no boxers on but is this normal getting a little worried as I don't want my recovery time to be longer than needed thank you for Ur time guys
